Raised INR, received refund, left negative - now item has arrived

I presume you meant to write "neutral" and not "negative".
I left a negative as that is what I felt the situation deserved.
I sent this message on 6th Feb.
If the seller had replied to that message apologising, advising me of the date he had dispatched the CD or asking me to wait a bit longer etc, then I would have been patient for a few more days. I am pretty tolerant of eBay problems if the seller communicates with me and, as it later transpired, the CD eventually arrived.
But he didn't take 60 seconds of his time to respond to a customer. He just issued a refund. His feedback suggests that he does this rather than communicate with his customers. He hasn't added follow up comments to any of the other 12 or so similar negatives to mine.
He is running a business selling CDs with mostly positive feedback from satisfied customers but appears to need to learn how to handle the occasional problem.
Regarding delivery dates, an order placed on 12th January should not take until 10th February to arrive from Germany. I get items delivered from the Far East far more quickly than that.
Any postal delay may not necessarily be his fault but it is his responsibility to communicate with a buyer who hasn't received a paid for item.
I will email him telling him the CD has arrived and see if I get a response. As above I'm happy to return it at his cost and revise feedback but he does need to contact me before that can happen.
Thanks everyone else for all the other posts. I think the above reply covers everything.
Why does he need to contact you? You have your item, You have a refund, Your feedback is inaccurate, he posted your item, you didnt recieve it, he sent you a refund I cant really see what your complaint is? What did you want him to say? "Ich habe Sie eine Rückerstattung geschickt"
Would that really have made that much difference to your experience?
It then came
You have now told other buyers he sells stuff he doesnt have which isnt true, i think you have a responsibilty to revise your feedback but thats up to you0 -

Just be mindful that when you contact a seller it generally opens a case, a defect. This, in a case where a seller isn't from the same country as you, means he may not fully understand what you are asking....hence no reply....he may not understand.
What do you mean by this?Hi, I haven't yet received this CD. As you will see from my feedback, I normally receive items very quickly. It is now past your latest estimated delivery time of 4th February. Do you have another copy you can dispatch as I still want the CD? Please advise.

Edited. Can't be bothered.0

The right thing is to revise the feedback surely?
You got your CD, the communication you received was in the form of money. The best communication there is.0 -
Perhaps it was delayed or even went to the wrong country. That happened once to something I sent.Is European post really that slow?
I have family in Switzerland and letters etc arrive within a few days either way.
The CD was despatched in a white jiffy type bag with a pre printed postal label marked "PRIORITAIRE" Deutsche Post etc. No price is marked on the label.
Mistakes happen and are often out of the sellers control. Your negative was far too harsh. You're messing with someone's livelihood over a measly £10 that you were refunded anyway. Pretty sad really.0 -
When the Cd would be delivered is an estimate not a guaranteed delivery date. I think you have jumped the gun and have been very unfair.
You have the CD, you've been promptly refunded, you've left a neg. and you are wondering if you should just forget about it? Imagine how you would feel as the seller if you knew all of this.0 -

Ebay's estimate, not the buyer. Also note the use of the word estimate.Regarding delivery dates, an order placed on 12th January should not take until 10th February to arrive from Germany. I get items delivered from the Far East far more quickly than that.
.
Well, in this case it did. Once the buyer posts it, what do you expect them to do? Find it in the distribution centre and personally deliver it to your door?
Once buyers open a case, a replacement (if it is even possible) isn't suitable for a buyer, as the buyer can still escalate the case and end up with a refund and either one or two free items.
Whilst the seller could perhaps communicate a little better, hopefully next time you won't be so trigger happy and I'm glad to see no one else on here shares your warped view of the situation.0 -

Ah yes the wrong country..I had an expensive parcel going to Spain signed for / tracked insured - the lot. Ebay gave a 3-5 day estimate.
After about 10 days the buyer said she thought something was wrong as she couldn't understand what the tracking meant-when I checked it was out for delivery in Stockholm.
Even more amazingly when I phoned RM to complain they were very blase - apparently it happens a lot and told me to wait a few more days as it would sort itself out. Did eventually get to Spain- late, but buyer was very very nice about it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Avoriaz, have you changed your mindset yet and apologised to your German seller?0
