ServiceStop.co.uk

Be very careful when using this service.
Firstly, they will add on extra charges for 'Specialist Oil' which will amount to an extra 50 quid and brings the service charge to a main dealer.
Secondly they send the car to a local garage and all the extra bits/pieces required seem to suddenly crop up. The ooooh ahhhhhh you need new brake discs and then they charge as much as a main dealer. Only when I stated this they then dropped the prices and only a fiver less than the main dealer. Even then you know nothing about how the garage will service the car unless you're familiar with the garage. I don't have any criticism of independent garages but servicestop place their charges on top so its in their interest to find the cheapest garage.
To top it all off they pickup/drop off your car.....unless the person forgets the key to their car, then you have to drive them back to the garage.....unfortunately happened to me.
The car also seems worse then before it got a service so I'm off to someone I trust and wasted alot of time with servicestop......and money!

I'll go to my local garage or main dealer as I know them both.

Why didnt you research before handing your car over to strangers?

Well if the OP had, they would have found reasonable reviews:

333 5 star ratings; not bad and far higher than quick sh*t and Helfrauds

In that case you'll never go to a hotel, b&b restaurant film etc.:rotfl:

convenience tax i suppose, dont they collect and drop off your car as well?
  • My local dealer does free collect and return for services.

Don't understand the appeal of an anonymous garage for work. At least Kwik Fit look you in the eyes when screwing you.

that's the problem with companies that use them I suppose. the client has no relationship or loyalty with the garage. client effectively went on a price comparison site fishing for quotes. So garage does not feel compelled to provide a loyalty rate to them so client gets fleeced. I'm guessing the the servicestop comission probably is quite big which inflates the cost up. If they're paying service stop £30 for the referral and the client only wants an oil change then that's going to be bloody expensive:

    comission £30
    delivery/collect at £50 p/h: £40
    oil filter: £3
    oil: £15
    oil change at £50 p/h: £40

n.b. mechanic needs to let the oil cool from scolding hot to hot. If the client is only interested in oil change - then the client is going to have to pay for the car to cool down at the shop doing nothing.

Delivery/collection and labour both take 48 minutes? Weird.
