Could somebody please explain to me how you can forget about giandujas. I'm beyond confused!

How's your work week going lovely Nora? Better than last week? It's raining here, but I'm sending sunny happy thoughts your way.

I found an entire chocolate orange in my bag last week, that I'd forgotten I'd bought - so anything is possible!:DMuffinTops wrote: »Could somebody please explain to me how you can forget about giandujas. I'm beyond confused!

Thank you for your sunny happy thoughts, MT - they're working overtime as it's truly gorgeous here. Wednesdays are my first 'working for someone else' day (well, half day) of the week, so it's sort of like a Monday for me. But I'm cheery enough about it - I genuinely like most of my job. Just my manager and team mate can be really negative and demotivating, which I find quite tough to be chirpy in the face of (like last week).
But it's a new week and I'm going in on an organisational high - the washing is on, I've put fresh sheets on the bed and I've got a few other bits done this morning that just make my inner organisational fiend just *happy sigh*.
I'm so glad you asked! because I have no idea...Apologies if this offends anyone... what are gianduja pralines?!
but I saw pralines and just scoffed everything.

Gianduja pralines are along the lines of a solid nutella type chocolate really, is probably the best way to get the idea. I think they contain around 30% of hazelnut and/or almond type paste. I think the paste was originally included to help the chocolate supplies last a little longer! Not that I know much about any type of chocolate, you understand!
Twiggy86, I admire and pity you in equal supply
Actually no, I mostly admire you. I really wish I wasn't such a chocolate fiend. As does my bank account and my health!!!!!
Yay for sunny days!!!0 -
I really wouldn't admire me too much - my day is now going to consist of tracking down these chocolates!!!

MT is right - gianduja is a hazelnut and cocoa paste, that was originally first made in the war (and Google tells me that Nutella was originally called Pasta Gianduja, which doesn't have the same snappiness, does it?). The hazelnut makes them smooth, so they are like milk chocolate even though they are both dairy free and vegan. And therefore terribly healthy

They're not always easy to find - Caffe Nero usually sell them individually (they are the little gold bars for about 30p each) and some branches have bags of them which is how I got some this week.
I think Leonidas also do a version but Hotel Choc only have gianduja in a bombe, which isn't quite the same. My local Waitrose used to sell a box of an Italian brand but don't any more
although they do sell giandjua covered hazelnuts dusted in cocoa
.
Not that I am a chocolate fiend either or anything
