I am going to switch from Budget Energy to SSE Airtricity. Does anyone know how long the switch actually takes - is it the 4-6 weeks that they state on their website?

there is a 14 day cooling of period so anytime after that

What kind of customer service do you need from an energy company (beyond keeping the lights on)? I'm wondering about switching too and can't imagine how the customer service thing would impact on me but I have a feeling that's just a failure of imagination. I don't think I've ever had to phone Power NI about anything except getting my DD updated - and mostly they've adjusted that themselves.

Does anyone know if I signed up to SSE Airtricity today would I be paying their current unit rate or their new rate which comes into affect on 1st April?

Also the offer of £50 Welcome bonus is available until the 31st March 2015. Does anyone know if there will be a different offer on the 1st April?

I want to clarify these things because I am signing my parents up as well. I did email SSE Airtricity but they did not respond.

I found Airtricity customer service to be acceptable considering its a large company.

I had to leave for 21 days as per regulations and then signed up again to them today to get the benefits of being a new customer for a 2 year contract , I believe the cheapest around with a 10% reduction each year and a £50 welcome credit.
