Is a 16GB iPhone 5S enough to handle iOS8?

Well, 16 GB is not a huge amount for a phone, if you store music and a few apps; my iPhone 5 is 64GB, which is comfortable.
I think Apple's current 8GB offering is stupid.0 -

Hi all,
I have an iPhone 16GB 5S and just checking on my iTunes the majority of my storage is taken up with "apps, video & audio" a whopping 8.1GB. However, the "Other" storage, which Im assuming is the OS is only 1.36gb. The really interesting thing is, when you add up the total amount of GB in the iTunes bar I only make it about 12gb... so maybe Apple are hiding a small portion away for system usage anyway. We also have to remember a small factor of it could also be that a 16GB HD doesn't mean you will get 16GB of storage.
I think in summary, if you looking for a phone thats going to last you the next couple of years based on your suggested usage then 16gb would probably be fine.
I personally wish I had gone to the 32gb version so I could load up more of songs and videos but for day to day usage 16gb is more than adequate.
hope this is helpful0 -
A 16GB device is probably actually only 14.9GB of formatted space. From that you need to subtract the OS size and also any system reserved space (page file equivalent) to determine the actual user storage space. So 12GB free after a clean install sounds probable.0

a clean install usually gives about 12/13gb left for user. Recently bought an Iphone 6 I went for the 64gb version to avoid this situation again.
Do check settings relating to iPhoto as there is a new option which helps reduce using duplicate space for pictures being in the camera roll and in the photostream app...
Also music streaming apps such as spotify can save space by not relying on the music app..0 -
Just a thought, if an iPhone 6 is too expensive, yet she doesn't plan on storing music, photos or many apps, why not get another decent midrange Android device? Doesn't sound like she actually needs the premium bits of being in the Apple ecosystem, and will have to re-buy the apps she already has for a different platform?0
