Holiday Extras Ltd

Hi all

I've been looking at a hotel near Stanstead with parking for our break to Berlin, we need 4 nights including one night which we will be staying at the hotel near Stanstead. Upon googling such items, I've come across a company Holiday Extras Ltd, who offer a money back guarantee if you find a cheaper deal with the same terms. It states you have 24 hours to find a cheaper deal and also it will be paid after the date you've returned to the UK.

Now I've found a deal with the Premier Inn (through thier website) which is costing £89 including parking. However for the same dates through Premier Inn direct I have got a price of £70.92.

Has anyone used Holiday Extras Ltd and furthermore has anyone been successful in getting a refund due to finding a cheaper deal? Just wondering if it's worth giving it a try...

I've used Holiday Extras many times without problem but never tried to claim on their best price guarantee. I suspect they will try to use some small print to wriggle out of it.

Thanks, have just booked through them and immediately submitted a claim about finding another cheaper deal

Here's the terms and conditions of the Free if Cheaper offer:
    Terms & conditions:

Airport parking, Port parking, Airport hotels, Port hotels and Airport lounges

    1. The parking, hotel or lounge product or package of products under comparison must be the same in every respect - for example, at the same hotel/car park/lounge, or valet parking provided by the same supplier, and with the same cancellation terms - as that which you purchased from Holiday Extras.
    2. Where multiple rooms are booked each room is regarded as a separate product.
    3. You must make your claim within 24 hours of making and paying for your booking with Holiday Extras.
    4. Successful claims will not be paid until after the return date originally booked.
    5. You must use the products or package as per the booking against which you are making your claim.
    6. Cancellation of the booking cancels your right to claim under this guarantee.
    7. Comparison prices must be listed and quoted in pounds sterling.
    8. Our Free If Guarantee will not apply to price-differences of five pence or less.

Plenty of wriggle room for them there to get out of it. Point 1 gives them a number of options. Especially "the same in every respect.... including cancellation terms". Are you sure the Premier Inn offer was on exactly the same cancellation terms?

Let us know how you get on...

Just curious but if you found the same deal for less on the hotel's own web site why did you not book it directly with them rather than booking via Holiday Extras and then submitting a claim from Holiday Extras for the difference?

I think it's free if you find the same thing offered elsewhere for less vs just the difference.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I had 1 successful claim about 6 years ago. Rejected several times since. Usually tiny details like cancellation terms etc is their get out.
I wont even look at their website these days
  • I've never had success with these and would have just booked the cheaper option
    travelover
  • Why don't you use something like Trivago when you have found a hotel. Hotels.com has a price match guarantee. No time limit. Used the price match guarantee many times.

I often use Holiday Extras, and have had several successful Free If claims

They will pay out if you meet their T&Cs, it's just very hard to find a cheaper price, which isn't a discount or special offer, as they control most of the market.

The only issue I've ever had is with a booking I made at the last minute, by the time their team attempted to verify the lower price I had found I had already completed my stay, they emailed to say that as they couldn't verify the lower price they had declined my claim :(

I pointed out that the morning after I had made the booking, ie the day of the actual stay, they had dropped the price on their own website to match the lower rate I had found, I suggested that a check of their own records should reveal the lower price, they then checked their own records and agreed I had a valid claim and that told me a £250+ refund was on the way :T:j:j

Don't forget Topcashback, I've actually been paid to stay/park on all of my Free If claims.
