Anyway, why did you resurrect the thread apart from "The Internet Lives Forever".

Because you're contributing absolutely nothing and rather than restarting a thread which is finished and calling out the forum users for their tone and attitude, why not use the forum tools to report users or message mods.

I'm not sure the thread warrants "reporting users". I'm just expressing my opinion on conduct. It doesn't need chastising or following up.

As for why I'm responding, as I mentioned previously, I was searching for PayPal credit pre-approval and I came across the thread from a Google link. The thread had a question that I had some experience with, so I typed it out on the basis that there are probably future users (like me) who might get some value from it. Hence the "the Internet is forever" comment.

Anyway, whatever. This has got to be the least profitable exercise of my entire day, so I'll leave it there.

    In those cases, great.

But when the reply to genuine financial distress is:

"Is it the 'return' key that's broken on the laptop?"

    or:

"The ENTER key is very useful though.

    Like this."

It's just gratuitous sarcasm, and not helpful in the least.

    Au contraire mon ami.

If someone's looking for help then posting a wall of text is NOT going to encourage people to help them. Whilst the first comment you quoted might appear sarcastic, I can categorically state the second one was NOT sarcastic nor was it intended to be - it was helpful advice to the OP as to how they can avoid a wall of text in the context of this forum.

But I expect you're already in "rant" mode so won't be prepared to accept the advice was given at face value.

The OP received responses from 8 people. ONE of those replies criticised his post layout - the other poster who mentioned the enter key being useful was explaining why its helpful to use it rather than criticising the OP for not using it.

    And yet you say:

So, for the first anti-smug answer I've seen on this thread (or indeed any, at this miserable forum):

But we're the ones that are smug and arrogant apparently. The mind boggles.

You just jumped on an entire forum worth of members all because of what ONE person posted. That seems a bit of an overreaction on your part - to put it politely.

The internet may be forever, but the search engines aren't :) (referencing the eu judgement against google that people have a right to be forgotten).

As a sidenote: anyone else thought that google isn't as good as it used to be since that judgement?
