What's done is done, I just have to keep playing "catch up"
Nearly every diary I have read, they all say the same - they keep quiet about o/p as everyone thinks "why would you want to do that?"
In my case I have told a select few and every one of them are interested and in awe but mostly too late for them, 1 just finished paying off interest only mortgage  and 1 has only 1 year to go (after having to extend it for another 3 years on top of 25 years because of the endowment they took out - didn't cover them
You can only supply the info, its up to them what they do with it.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -

Great overpayments and EF. Know what you mean about not talking about the o/ping. Only one person knew and saw the point, and one person actually told me we were daft to o/p because all debts die with you! I was shocked at that belief. He was so adamant I found myself checking that on the net :rotfl: He really thought we should be spending rather than overpaying :eek:Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!0 -
Wow! Yep great ops and EF
I think I have probably mentioned elsewhere that where I live, most people don't have mortgages: either they were gifted the properties or bought when prices were very very low (prices here are still very very low compared to England). I remember mentioning to friends the low amount I had borrowed for my current house and they were shocked at how high it was. I decided against telling them what mortgage I have on my BTL :rotfl: Anyway, I just don't mention what I am doing now; figured it was better to keep quiet where money is concernedMortgage start September 2015 £90000 MFiT #060 -
:pOh I tell everyone to overpay! I have saved a few friends thousands by telling them to go to a whole of market broker and get a better deal and showing them the overpayment calculator! Even an extra £50 a month makes a massive difference over the term!
I find if you get people to plug in their details then the calculators speak for themselves. Then tell them to think of it in terms of £100. If you were to put in £100 extra, what would you save over the term. If I gave someone £100 and they gave me back even £120- you'd be delighted!
I love getting other people to overpay and their faces when they realise you've just saved them a fortune over a life time- and I always throw in- how many extra holidays could you go on with that extra cash in your hand rather than the bank having it.
Ooooopppppps I've gone on a bit there! Sorry:pMortgage balance Feb 2015 start of MFW Journey-£245316.06/Aim to be mortgage neutral 2022 — Target for May 2024 14 Year Target Balance MF50 = £89,535 — Mortgage Balance £106, 000—Target for May 2024! £89,535
