How strict is TalkTalk 40gb limit

I'm tempted by TalkTalk, now it's available in my area, but am put off by the 40gb limit as I understand this comprises of both downloads and uploads.

Given the increasing amount of content available over the internet I suspect that in 18 months time this will be far short of what I require (I imagine I go over this some months now).

Usage caps are just a general pain in the neck. Do TalkTalk get shorty with those who go over?

    Hi,

first of all 40GB is quite a lot compared to other providers that cap at 15GB. Bear in mind it's nearly 10 full lengh DVD images. So unless you're REALLY going to hit .torrents, P2P and other file sharing, you've really nothing to worry about.

I often leave internet radio streaming constantly, same with TV and this still doesn't even come near to 'cramping' my net activities. I am also one who downloads a LOT, probably more than many.

No TalkTalk don't seem to come down too hard on max users, I think it's the standard reminders and then if you still go over then they restrict you. I certainly didn't remember anything about instant disconnections or anything like that in the T&Cs.

As said, I doubt you have anything really to worry about unless of course as said above you're downloading constantly.
