I purchased a mobile phone from Argos on friday costing 300 quid and it constantly restarts. I've lost my receipt, but i still have the box and everything to go with it including the item number on the side. So my question is would i be egible for a replacement for a different phone? Thank you for helping

You need proof of purchase, not necessarily a receipt.Tricky with cash...but I'd imagine that their POS system logs the IMEI no. in some way?
No you are not entitled to a replacement at all: the retailer can repair, refund or replace at their discretion. Since they'll probably direct you back to the manufacturer anyway, why don't you contact them and ask for advice? If necessary you'll need to send it to them for repair. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Ok thanks for the help I'm going to return it tomorrow, i definitely don't want a repair though. What happened to the customer always being right?

This is the second time I've had to disagree with MacMan today.
Firstly, Argos as the retailer is responsible if the phone is not working correctly, not the manufacturer. You need to return it to them asap.
As for your missing receipt; if you still have the box it came in, Argos have their own way of marking the boxes of everything they supply so they will know instantly that they supplied the phone. Without your receipt, they will not give you a refund, but they will give you a replacement."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

Thank you. So the item number on the side should be more than enough?0 -

No, it will show that it came from Argos. It will not show that the OP was the purchaser. That is the reason why proof of purchase will probably be required before Argos will do anything.poppasmurf_bewdley wrote: »Yes, it will show that you bought it from them. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
