5 year old oil? Kia must use the best engine oil in the world.

Ah that's good, otherwise the engine might get hot and burn off the nasties from the oil!

Would like to see a UOA on that.

Darkmatter may join up again and offer to analyse it.

I'm useless, but not that useless! Haha! I have topped up the oil in the meantime. Its also had a new oil filter/change done last year. Drove through flood water and a branch pieced the filter. Was on the way to MOT which was ironic!

Ah so it's had oil services but not full services?
Ok, all mot'd and good to go.
Ignore what tyre fitters told you and carry on :)

Indeed! That was stressful & Kwikfit wouldnt help me when i somehow managed to get to them! Breakdown had to come and tow me home! So as you can imagine chain garages make me a bit anxious! I always take my car to local independant garage now and pay full price for the MOT.

If you've found a good garage you trust stick with them, wouldn't worry about main dealer stamps :)
  • I'd be inclined to check with Kia dealer about your history before getting them to service it, if warranty still honoured then by all means use the main dealer to keep the warranty belt and braces intact, however if your warranty is now void which i suspect is the case due to lack of servicing, then you might as well find and use a local garage to look after the car for you.

As for fast fit chains, many people have had bad experiences from them looking for work, not all branches of all chains behave in this way, but it would appear your experiences are with the former group so maybe best avoid them and their scare tactics.

The MOT visual brake check does not include removing the wheels. On small steel wheels, there will be virtually nothing visible of the pads.
