    Hung up my suit!
All I take is a fish oil capsule for omega 3 (1,000mg) a few times a week. A varied diet is the most important thing, but I do make sure that I eat a handful of almonds every day.
  • I take (daily) a multi vitamin without iron, a fish oil capsule, 100mg co-enzyme Q10, chromium, vitamin d, vit b complex, psyllium husk and 10ml of extra strength sambucol.
Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman
  • Like I said before, the problem with multivitamins is that vitamins are in the "oxide" form (eg Magnesium Oxide, Zinc Oxide, etc), which is the cheapest and least effective. The best absorbed form are: gluconate, picolinate and the methylated form (eg: Zinc Picolinate, Methylcobalamin, methylfolate, etc). I've never seen them in a multivitamin, so I have to buy them separately.

I take a few supplements because of health conditions - pernicious anaemia (I can't absorb b12 in the normal way - it needs to go straight into my blood stream) and allergies.

Because of severe (life threatening) allergies I am sadly restricted to brands I know can guarantee they are free from the risk of cross contamination / traces from nuts, peanuts and sesame.

I get 8 weekly injections of B12 from my NHS GP, but it isn't enough. So, I've started to take Jarrow's sublinguals and some patches too. Not sure yet if I think they are having much of an effect. Time will tell.

I also take Jarrow Methyl Folate as I have read it is the most biologically active form of folic acid. (Low B12 and low folate are often linked). I only take a tablet every other day.

For general health I take Jarrow B- Complex, Vega Codliver Oil and am about to try the Better You D3 spray.

I also take Bio-Kult because of my allergies. Looking after ones microbiome seems to be especially important for allergy sufferers (and possibly auto immune conditions too, of which I also have a few).

I eat well too - not popping pills to make up for a poor diet. Just not the healthiest person.
    To Do 2015
Claim back PPI & packaged bank account fees
Take (further) first steps in investing (S&S ISA)
    Start saving for the children
    Start a business
    + £2015 in 2015 from home / £5026.21
  • In my opinion, I am willing to spend extra to avoid excipients, fillers, binders and lubricants like magnesium stearate , (only used so machinery can operate at maximum speeds and therefore more profits. UGH!).
They have no nutritional function and can effect the absorption rate.
This is why I would never buy from high street cheaper shops.

I am also willing to pay more for supplements with higher bio-availability form.

I think it has a lot to do with age too.
Over 50's may feel like they need extra bits and pieces.

I bought some multi-vitamins, omega 3 or whatever it was and some other tablets but didn't feel better, stronger, healthier when taking them, so didn't buy any more when the pots ran out.

I remember when ZMA was like £10 a bottle.
They made me sick on a empty stomach.

I'll give it a look, but I'd be careful when buying cheap supplements unless it's Vitamin C. You never know what they've put inside. With Poundland I'd expect floor scrapings.
