Nothing much happening here again. Counting down to half term (yay :() School has an inset day on Friday, so I have the pleasure of my boys company on my day off this week. (I shouldn't complain. They're both angels really)

Haha, think all the schools must have had the same idea as both the primary and secondary near us are doing that too

*Massive frost overnight, everywhere white, but sunny, so pegged laundry out. Has had a good airing & will just need finishing off overnight on the heated airer.

*Sowed fist veg seeds of the year - Chillies - now in my little cheapo heated propagator on the windowsill. A great year for veg last year, so am hoping for more good crops this time, all being well.

I pegged out a load of towels and was really surprised how well they had dried (and they smelt fantastic too)

Me wants to grow something, will dig out the gardening books tonight - tv is rubbish.

What is "rubber" chicken/pork etc? Always see people saying it but not a clue what they mean - so I've bitten the bullet and asked the question even if I do look silly if it's completely obvious!!!

I too am curious. I assumed it meant that it kept coming back (as left overs), but I could be mistaken.

Ziggy I forgot all about Friday, fortunately I didn't plan anything for this Friday :)

    Hi Twiggy & Tash,
Lol, 'Rubber chicken' is the term used for s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g those leftovers to get as many meals as possible. So, from the chicken my husband cooked yesterday for Sunday lunch, I shall also get 2 large portions of curry, a smoky BBQ pizza topping, 2 large portions of stew & 2 packed lunches (a chicken & cranberry jelly roll & a chicken savoury & salad pitta), as well as 3 containers of chicken stock, some of which I'll freeze for soup-making. I don't know who started the term 'rubber chicken' but it's a good description. I love leftovers & see every leftover chicken or joint of meat as a creative challenge. Perhaps I should get out more, lol.

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

It was an Aldi chicken, think it was a large one, as she was a very plumptious girl! I always get a lot of meals from a roast chicken. We don't like stingy portions, either. If roasting a joint of beef or pork, I'll often make extra gravy so I can freeze foiled trays of sliced meat & gravy. It freezes & re-heats well and once you've prepped a bit of veg, it's like having a free Sunday lunch x
