O/S Daily Monday 9th February 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good Morning all x Thank You NMLC for starting the thread.
Well yesterday i did everything i set out too (smug smile lol) so when we popped to garden centre i treated myself to a new orchid. Its a three stalk purple one and is beautiful.
Had DD1 and DGD round for tea yesterday and she (DGD) is growing up so fast. Her latest trick is to shout "TADA" when she does anything she thinks is right lol. (she is 15 months old)
lunch for me will be the squash soup i made over the weekend and dinner will be something with the leftover chicken from yesterday.
No housework today as i did it all at the weekend.
Anyhoo better think about getting ready for work. Hugs to all in need x
    Bright Blessings xx

Off to work in a sec, hubby has a cuppa as he's not working today, I've fed the fish & had some porridge.
I'm finishing at 2 but have to go out again at 6 for a Dr's appointment.
    Have a good day everyone.

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Still dark, air feels chilly so think we’ve had a frost but very still. Load in WM.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now up and getting ready for work. DS2 now getting ready for school.

Lunch yesterday was roast chicken, chips and salad – I had planned to do the full roast chicken dinner, but had loads of stuff to catch up on, so needed a quicker easier option, there was clean plates all round, was actually a nice change. Dinner tonight is Hunters Chicken, I will serve it with pots, and veg.

Enlisted the help of the menfolk yesterday to get the jobs done, I stripped our bed and got bedding into the wash, DH and DS2 re-made it.

Both boys stripped and re-made their own beds and got them to pick up any bits of rubbish/paper etc from their bedrooms and bin it. DH sat with shredder and got going with a pile of papers. So whilst not brilliantly tidy and sorted it’s better than it was.

Work I think will be another manic Monday as we’ve been horrendous the last 2 Mondays as all it’s coming to the end of the financial year and everyone’s chasing late payments etc. At least the day passes quickly and I’m off tomorrow as DH and I are going to a funeral.

    Keep safe and well x

    Good Morning Everyone,

Busy, busy, busy day ahead for me as i achieved next to nothing over the weekend.

At least most of the snow has gone now and our weather was really mild over the weekend.

As i have the house to myself today i plan to catch up on all the chores and restart my MK endeavours.

Have a happy, warm and safe day everyone.

    Regards

    Good morning everyone

It's looking to be another dry and sunny day here today which is nice to see. At least the girls won't be getting wet on their way to school even if they freeze their bits off :).

I'm off to join Slimming World this morning and I am very nervous. Not about getting weighed as I have a fair idea what that is anyway but just joining a new group and ....gulp....socialising. As part of me getting better though I decided I needed to challenge myself to get out of my safe zone and do new things and experiences. I really need to lose weight and I can't do it on my own so a group it is. My sister went to this particular one and did very well there so that helps. She said they are friendly and welcoming and the consultant is very supportive. I haven't told any of my family and friends though as I have tried and failed so many times before. However, I am very ready to make changes in my life and this is the start of good things for me I hope.

Speaking of changing things I am stuck in a rut with my meal planning and cooking too. This morning when I come back home I will be making a new meal plan with at least 4 different recipes to try. I've got a magazine with lots of nice and healthy recipes in so will make up a shopping list and do an online order for tomorrow. Tonight I am making Spanish Chicken from the Hairy Dieter's book as that is very popular here and fits in well with the slimming world plan.

Tomorrow, a good friend is coming over and I will be making sticky lemon chicken and noodles for lunch. We normally go out for a meal but I want to make something instead and this is a new recipe to experiment on her with :rotfl::rotfl:.

Anyway, that's all my waffle for today, hope you all have a fab day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning :hello:

Well last week didn't go to plan at all, hopefully this week will be better.

I have a large heated propagater in the bedroom, which is really annoying because I'd just cleared space for a chair and now there's no room for it. I've put the chair in the lounge for now, it looks awful. The propagator is next to the window and there are lights shining on it, I expect the neighbours think I'm growing my own cannabis :D

I'm going to bring the plastic shelves into the kitchen today for the normal-sized propagators. These will be for my tomatoes, cucumbers and sweet peppers. First though, I need to wash them all down – everything has been outside and needs cleaning and de-cobwebbing. Then find a home for all the gardening bits that currently live on them, trowels, pots, watering cans etc.

My Christmas ripple blanket is growing quickly, it should be finished in a couple of days. The granny squares for the other one have been put on hold, I can't decide how big to make the squares before joining them :D Might keep them quite small then make a very wide border.

    Hope you're OK Hester xx

Morning all. No frost here this morning and the last of the lying snow has finally gone! The forecast is for thick cloud all day. Hope they are wrong as we plan on going over to Hebden Bridge and walk along the canal. The main road runs adjacent to the canal so. when we feel we have walked far enough, we head up to the road and get the next bus back to HB. Then a spot of late lunch in one of the many eateries there.

Still a bit of beef casserole left from yesterday so that will warm up for supper. So a no cooking day for me today!

Managed to spend a couple of hours yesterday on Ancestry, thanks to the free weekend offer. Sadly I didn't learn anything new but it gave us a bit of
amusement when I found the Wakefield prison records! The prisons would be bursting at the seams if people were locked up for the same offences these days - 14 days for crimes such as using offensive language, damaging grass, breaking a window, damaging a pair of trousers and numerous cases of drunk and disorderly!

Have a good day all. Take care x

    Hope today goes well Dumpling.

    Morning all,

Not so cold here today meant to be milder for a while then another cold snap. Off to work for me I am tired already as I worked all weekend but that's it now for four weekends.

Something with mince for dinner not sure what yet I might do a spag bol. OH made a lovely 'sausage surprise' :D yesterday, he fried off sausages and some onions, made a thick gravy up, put it all in a casserole dish and topped with mash and baked, it really was very nice ultimate comfort food.

Right better get on, have good days all xx

    Morning everyone.

    No frost today.

Yesterday was interesting and busy. The wood I had delivered on Friday wasn't thst good and very wet so a friend sold me a huge load of his stock and came down with a trailer full. We spent an energetic while unloading it all. Really happy.

Then he decided to clear all the rubbish out of the barn where piles of cardboard (and other such stuff) had accumulated. Cue a huge very rewarding fire. As more and more stuff came out of the barn the flames got very sparky. It burned for ages after anything was added.

Thst kind of work needed a reward of a wee dram.

Todsy I have shlep up to Oban to sort out Y..l delivery company. Git a text saying I had missed a delivery and a card had been left, neither of which was true.

Dumpling...I really hope you are OK at the group, it sounds both great for and a horror. Taking the first step is always the most difficult.

Time to shower and get myself off.

    Hope everyone is well.
