Has anyone recently been to a fab all inclusive hotel in Mexico, looking for great food, fab facilities, great beach. We will be a mixed age party of 8 so good entertainment is also necessary.
I have not done a long hAul flight/holiday and been saving for ages so want it to be special. Budget around £1700pp for two weeks later this year or perhaps 2016.
El doroado suites by Kasimar has been recommended but it seems the beach is not so good.
Appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.

Hi 814, how long ago did you stay at those Resorts?0 -
It would be 5 years since we were at Grand Serenis and 3 since GBP Tulum. Not recent all all I'll agree but if the OP is considering either of the above I can give some basic, albeit out of date, information on things like location, trips, beach etc which are unlikely to have changed that much.0

We stayed at the Royal Cancun which was a fantastic hotel with impeccable service0

El doroado suites by Kasimar gets my vote everytime.

Have a look at the Valentin Imperial Maya. The advantages for us were a reasonable price (Thomson Worldwide and Caribbean Warehouse offer it, we found Caribbean Warehouse more competitive); lovely beach; great pools; nice food - and no reservations needed; spread out and beautiful resort meaning it never felt busy (although the Americans complain of the long walks and use the golf buggies to get around); premium alcohol included and a location which feels select - you aren't surrounded by other AI hotels, in fact you can barely see another building. We've been twice and plan to go back in the next 12 months.0

If you are all adults then I can highly recommend the Excellence group of hotels. They have 2 in Mexico and are both fabulous. One is Excellence Riviera Maya and the other is Excellence Playa Mujeris. Absolutely fantastic, 9 a la carte restaurants, best service of any hotels we have been to and beautiful resorts.
We have also been to Secrets the Vine in Cancun, again very good.
We have been to the Valentin (again adults only) as well but these are definitely a step up in our opinion.0 -
+1 for Excellence Playa Mujeres.
Stayed there when the Volcanic Ash Cloud came down over Europe. Had to stay there for free a few more days until a flight was arranged to get us home.

I stayed in the grand sirenis, I wouldn't say the beach was great.
Ok - but not great.
The suites were nice, we paid extra for the front block, right over the beach.0
