Council Tax services

I work as a Holiday Park Manager, which requires that I live on Park. I live in a three bedroom farm house and pay full council tax. I don't choose to live here. I have to, because of my occupation. We have no council street lights only our own.
We have a 24 hours sercurity service, therefore call them if we have any issues, rather than calling the police.
We have an in-house domestic waste collection service that the company I work for pay for.

Is there any sort of eligibility in the above for a reduction in the council tax I pay?
I asked my local council the same question in 2007, but was told firmly, without explanation that there is no application form to claim a reduction on the basis of these points.
I understand that council tax payment got to a governmental central fund, therefore I'm probably wasting my time. But I just felt I needed to ask the question here so I can have closure.

Thanks

Council Tax is a tax, not a payment for services. You have no chance of a reduction on the basis of what services you do/dont use.
  • As above - it is a tax. You don't have to use any of the council's services (not even the roads) for the tax to be due.

However - If you have another place of your own elsewhere on which you do pay council tax, you are likely to be entitled to a 50% rebate on CT in your tied accommodation.

No chance - you wouldn't be able to pay less tax if you didn't have kids (and so didn't use schools), didn't use the trains, etc., would you? This doesn't really seem to be any different.

No, council tax payments goes directly to the council who allocate the money as required, non-domestic rates goes to the government. As others have said, you have no eligibility for reduced CT payment
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • My mother received a reduction in her council tax as she lived alone.
We pay an absolute fortune for the privilege of having our refuse bins emptied once a week; luckier than some,I suppose, as some councils only empty them once a fortnight.

We also pay extra to have our garden waste removed; I make jolly sure that the bin is full every time, to ensure we get our money's worth!!;):(

More than I do, they only bother during the summer!
  • You could look into the band that your house has been assessed at in case it should be in a lower band for council tax

I want a reduction too as I have no children of school age.

I also don't go out at night, so don't need, want or benefit from street lights.

I compost most of my waste myself, so should get a 50% reduction on waste disposal.

I nver use social services, or meals on wheels or mental health services.

While on the subject, but moving to income tax, I don't support any of the various wars, so should get a discount for the amount of my tax that goes to the armed forced.
  • my wife has started charging me bedroom tax and I don't get any services

Despite what everyone else says I think you should look in to this further. A guy on 'grand designs' built his own home in the wood he managed. Because he used no services he wasn't liable for council tax.
