I was given a palladium ring as a present. Bought from a well known high street jewelrer. It had a band of brushed matte finish round most of the surface in the middle.
Boxed for several months, I actually just wore it for about a week.
After this we noticed the matte finish on the bottom of the ring had "worn off" and showing plain shiny metal in a small patch. There is no dent or anything.
Can this really be explained by waer and tear, we hear differing views but most people and other jewelrers have said that the matte finish should be lost lasting to permanent. it should wear off that quick.
Anyone else found this?

Had the experience of a white gold ring wearing through to show the yellow gold underneath - but they can be re-plated. No experience of Palladium. But wearing after a week seems a very short time unless it was rubbing against something that can wear away plating quickly - do you have a manual job? Doing a lot of DIY?0

The title is a bit misleading, anyone would interpret that as looking for an excuse to return the ring.0

I like the title. Just saying. Nothing else to add."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

I would prefer "Flawed of the rings"...0 -
Surely a better title would have been "Book 3: The Return of the Ring"?
Sorry.

we got it replaced with a brand new one and i wore it for 2 hours just browsing the net, nothing else.
And after that time one long scrath/visible scuff appeared on the surface on the matt finish along with few scrathes.
I dont think thats "normal" wear and tearHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
My wedding ring is palladium.
It has visible marks of use (fair wear and tear) but no scratches, dings or chips and still shiny without polishing once...and I've hardly taken it off in nearly 7 years.
It sounds like a badly made ring.0 -

Yes, I have to agree. I would expect after a couple of hours using a computer for the ring to look exactly the same.0
