I assume you mean a mail centre. You essentially cut out the whole collection process and inject your item directly into the mail stream.
so items are directly sorted into the next stage of the pipeline.
I must do then. One of them still calls itself a sorting office.

There's an odd one at a newer Post Office I occasionally use. It has two post boxes, one backs on to where the mail gets sorted and collected and another is a box that gets emptied. If I use the box the post will generally take an extra day, the boxes are no more than two metres apart.
Germans aren't allowed to wash their windows or cars on Sundays, or hang out their washing so I very much doubt they have delivery or collection then. They still pay church tax in their wages, Sunday is precious.
A pal of mine lived in Germany for a couple of years quite recently, so I'm seeing if he knows. Amazon are usually quite accurate, and I'd guess even more so in Germany. I'd be surprised if it was an error.

Germany pretty much shuts down at Saturday lunchtime until Monday morning so I can't see it really.

I've just seen some info that some Post Offices/Post drop off points are open Sundays. It also seems as though they use more printing online than we do and have more collections of post.
Whether it's better or worse than the UK is open to debate, some services are better, some are not, the prices are similarly fluctuating between the two.
The difference between international post is fascinating, given that most of the work is done by the receiving country it seems odd that the prices vary so much.
