TSB is not part of the same banking group!

No - but Lloyds owns 50% of the shares last time I checked. So legally a separate bank - yes - but truly independent of Lloyds influence?

They have to ditch the shares by the end of this year, so by 2016 they will be a completely separate bank, not anything to do with Lloyds. TSB is leasing IT systems from Lloyds for the next few years as far as I know until they have built their own, which Lloyds is paying for.:rotfl:

Not always, FD don't have the little HSBC logo next to their name anymore as far as I know, and unless you look on the back of the card or the small print its not obvious.
At the foot of every (or almost every) page on their website are the words...

"first direct is a division of HSBC Bank plc. © HSBC Bank plc 2012. All Rights Reserved. Member HSBC hsbcmember_footer_w.gif Group."

And I've just recently helped someone bag a £125 switching incentive from them, so noticed the same was on every single piece of correspondence they sent.

I think you should stop digging now. ;)

Strategic as well as day-to-day decisions at TSB are made by their Board, not by shareholders. Shareholder interest is limited to the return of their investment so as long as this it at least reasonable, shareholders will not intervene

I know that, but you would be surprised how some people don't notice such things.

Did they lie or did they misinform as obviously a big difference, lot's of companies can give wrong information with no intention of lying.

Lied. I got £500 comp for the estate I was the executor of.... Long story but a good one
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!
  • I have a question on the conditions of the £100 incentive.

The T&C state only one incentive per customer (Condition 5. "Only one offer is available per customer. Joint accounts will only be eligible for one payment").

Does anyone know how they treat joint accounts for the purpose of the switching incentive?

Have just switched a dormant joint account to them and received the £100 incentive. It was me opening the account, then adding my wife to it, and then it was me initiating the switch.

Can my wife switch one of her sole accounts to Halifax and receive another £100? Or are we now both deemed to have received an incentive already so she wouldn't qualify?

    thanks

Probably included money from those people you mentioned who had £250K in the bank and who hogged a council house.https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5171822
