Sat/Sun 7th/8th Feb- What Small DFW-Style Things Will You Be Doing This Weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:

Morning DFW-Jedis,
Well, life goes on, as does the almost everlasting quest for solvency and sanity. Today will be spent at work.
The List
:starmod: Check online banking and reconcile monies
:starmod: Do i-Say surveys.
:starmod: Turn off electric alarm clock at the wall til tonight.
:starmod: Read news online instead of buying a paper.
:starmod: Watch DVD from the bottomless pit (aka the DVD cupboard).
Well that's me for today. Back later if time allows. Good luck on your quests, Jedis.

Good Morning!
Thanks for the start Ally. Congrats on the contract!
Nothing at all planned for this weekend (until 4pm tomorrow, when I have to do that work thing), so I'm expecting it to be a frugal one. It's looking something like this....- Take Away Night! - HM Kebab with Chips and salad. This will also do lunches until Thursday
- Lights Off
- Heating Off
- Work on the bedroom clutter.
- More washing on the airer
- Check I have everything for next weeks meals (have made plan up to the 21st Feb)
- Get OH up for 9am (not DFW, but a challenge none the less!)
- DS2 wants to spend his Xmas Money this weekend. Will encourage him to do it online rather than going to town.
Think that's about all.Hope all that were under the weather are feeling a little brighter today.

Hi all
We went to see property no1 this morning. Definitely did not fall in love with it! Still liked the open kitchen/dining space but that was possibly the extent of it.
Apart from that a couple of sales went through yesterday so I need to go and post those parcels, my new debit card arrived (along with a PIN which I didn't ask for!) so I need to go sort that and I need to nip to Tesco. We're going out for a meal with OH's parents tonight so definitely not a low spend day!0 -
Things to do over the weekend....
Charge phone & tablet at workdone
B/L/D from storesdone so far
Clean bunny housesone done, one to go
Change & clean kitty litter traysalldone
Get up to date with washing, should be OK with one load.done
Continue clutter clearing..have just popped a bag of books to the Blue Cross shop, work in progress
Get my bum shifted regarding putting things on eBay. work in progress
Hoover all through house done plus cleaned kitchen & bathroom floors
Pay off a small debt...only owing £20 on it, so shall clear it when I'm paid on Sunday and will be £40 a month better off:T
Sunday should be an NSD, fingers crossed.....success!
Hope you all have a good weekend:)0 -
Afternoon all,
Not exactly been caning it with the money saving today, but have still kept the faith:
*This week's grocery shopping came in at just 25p over budget. It would have been more as mr f fancied cooking smoked haddock, which is quite expensive, but the fishmonger was not on the market this morning, so he thought again & decided on venison burgers.....which are 75p each. Ha!
*Visited our favourite local coffee shop. Had free coffee on loyalty card, so shared cost of the remaining one. I didn't spend any of my money on a cake......I sneaked the end of mr f's!
*Got a whole big bag for life size bag of veg from the market for under £4. It's always such good stuff too.
*Postie brought a free sample of cat biscuits for cat. Cat heard them making a biscuity noise & thought he was on for an extra breakfast, which he wasn't. They will be a free meal another day when he hasn't already been fed!
*We spent 2 hours in the veggie garden - mr f dismantled last year's bean frame, sorted compost bins, weeded & decided where to plant potatoes & shallots. I cleared the greenhouse bench ready for seed sowing which will be starting very soon. Also gave a bowl of veggie scraps & a flour bag to the worms in the worm composter. 2 trays of lovely rich compost ready to use. Topped up colony with more composting worms gathered from compost bins. I used to have to buy them!
*Did some surveys. One of them (IPSOS) was for 400 points, so as target for sending off for voucher is only 1380 points, this one is well worth doing.
*Watch something from Amazon Prime free trial which finishes on Monday.
So.........not a particularly pro-active day for money saving, but not a bad one either. Knitting time now, by the fire.
