booked holiday with wrong dates

Thanks for the advice so far. Still on hold. The date I actually want and hotel appears to be still available so I am 'simply' asking to move and pay the difference. You are indeed correct, I could still him out of school but he's in the middle of GCSEs and I have an uncooperative ex partner to add to the problem, so even if school did say yes..........
My actual booking was the second attempt. First time price changed to cheaper, board and dates correct ( I checked because it was a couple hundred pounds cheaper) and then website crashed when I tried to pay. So I tried again, dates on initial selection were correct, changed airports, continued through check out. It is only from the confirmation email we saw the dates were wrong.
Big lesson here I know but I am just hoping Thomson supervisor will be reasonable.0 -
I am pleased to announce it has been resolved
never got to speak with supervisor but explained my problem again to the next person (after being on hold 50 mins) and low and behold they changed me back to the correct dates and the original airport. I got charged the difference but they didn't charge me the change fee (because it was clear that I had attempted to contact them within 24 hours of booking I.e I emailed Cust services because helpline was shut.) Thanks for all your advice and support. I wonder if it is too early for a drink..........

Well done, and good for you for not taking the easy option of going in school dates!0

Good news - so often it depends on who you talk to (as well as how you speak to them-more flies as always caught with honey than vinegar when asking for something you aren't entitled to).
Well done on keeping your cool and getting it sorted.
Maybe a little drink !

It sounds to me like they were experiencing some website issues at the time you booked and they realised that either the fault was theirs or that the issues had caused you to be confused. Good that they took the way out that suited you, enjoy your holiday.0

A trauma that you didn't need!
I think the moral for anyone else reading this has to be, don't make bookings late at night. Whether or not you were so tired that you were confused, that is when companies update their websites and so technical issues are likely to arise then.
Hope you have an enjoyable and drama-free holiday.0 -
Good news. It seems calling within 24 hours is best to get things sorted.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Thank you again all. Yes I have learnt a very hard lesson and I didn't realise that websites get updated then. Next time I'll be making sure I double and triple check!0

Do you have right to cancel under the distance selling regs or would this not cover holidays?0
-
Distance Selling Regulations specifically exclude travel arrangements, so no joy there!0
