Selling home when child reaches 18 after divorce

Can anyone advise the process involved with selling the marital home when my child reaches 18 this year? This was the divorce agreement but I am unsure how long my ex wife can make it string out without actually being made to sell? Is there a cut off point when a court can say you have dragged your heels too long and it can go to auction? Any help you can offer would be much appreciated thank you

What makes you think the ex wife will string it out, what are her reasons? If the child is still in school I hope they won't need to move before they have finished their final year. The final year at school might not be the best time for disruption and potentially moving schools.
  • Because she hates me. The child is unemployed and on benefits so no it won't affect his schooling.

Where is your child going to live?
  • With his mother as he always has. I have paid full maintenance all his life and she agreed that at 18 the home would be sold. I didn't come on to get hostility I came for advice after being a decent father

OK Where will your child AND his mother be living once the family home is sold ?

(My current partner never bothered - the marital home he left twenty five years ago is still occupied by his ex -when his children reached 18 she had another child and he saw no reason to put them on the streets. Now this child is leaving school she'll be downsizing at some point and his share will be a very nice lump sum.)
