    FO have said the money can be released back to the OP with the account owner's consent. They could get that consent.

    You should have spent a little more time on reading before advising to waste money on a solicitor that will charge for every line s/he writes:

    To be clear, the letting firm aren't coming across as competent. Business accounts are often held by the company with certain staff listed as signatories/ The firm is still the account holder, but can't access it due to all the staff signatories leaving. With a bit more effort (at least if incorporated/some form of partnership/legal status) the *company* should be able to get access to their account.
