It sounds as if you have escalated your complaint to the FOS, which was the right thing to do. The FOS will provide you with a ruling in due course.0

Your only chance now seems to be the courts - small claims procedure. http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/law_e/law_legal_system_e/law_taking_legal_action_e/small_claims.htm
Based on what you posted previously, the defendant would most likely be the letting agency.0 -
It does seem strange that a letting agency opened an account with RBS without closing the Santander one.
Either the original account is still open under the same name or closed by which your payment would never have reached the old account.
I would be pressing hard the letting agency.0 -

Or the number of the old account has been recycled and it's now a new active account.0 -

It's unlikely the account number has been recycled so quickly. It's more feasible your letting agent is a bit useless.
If they are incorporated then they should have some kind of legal identity/company secretary that can get access to the account following a discussion with Santander.
You should be aware of
http://www.payyourway.org.uk/special-focus/misdirected-payments/ yours circumstances are a bit odd as the owner of the 'wrong' details are the same organisation as to who the debt was due to...strictly speaking - you could also argue you have already paid them if their account is open and so aren't liable again for the same money
You should probably delete their old account details from the list...
and perhaps some patience and see if the letter from the letting agent gives them access to the account.0 -
I would try one of those initial free consultations with a solicitor to get them to draft a strong letter to the Letting Agent and possibly Santander as well.
Would be worth £60 or £70 to get a letter if it resolves it, after all it was your mistake.0 -
What else do you want Santander to do?I would try one of those initial free consultations with a solicitor to get them to draft a strong letter to the Letting Agent and possibly Santander as well.
The only that I can think of, is whether they confirm in writing that the account in question doesn't belong to the letting agency, but even this can be considered to be a breach of the dreadful and ill-thought DPA.0
