Flowers to help sell property? If so what can I buy cheaply which won't kill my cats

Hi guys,
This is a really specific set of questions... Will having cut flowers in my flat when we're selling (for EA photos or people looking around or both?) really help the sale? It's something I hear and I'm sure it looks brighter as my flat although sunny, is painted grey with a grey sofa in the living room. I know that isn't the reason people will buy it, but I appreciate other people don't live in monochrome (even though people always compliment it)
If this is the case, what can I get inexpensively which won't cause my cats illness when one of them inevitably eats them? Or if you're a flower but not an animal person, please could you recommend a few for me to research the animal side myself. I can find lists of safe flowers and plants but because I've never been a flora person I've no idea how much they cost...
TL : DR. Will flowers help the sale of my flat? If so, what can I get cheap that won't kill my cats when they eat them
Thanks folks!

Don't bother. You'll have to replace them every 1-2 weeks as they start to droop.
I have a cat and he does his best to knock vases over.
If your lounge is very monochrome, buy a couple of cheap, bright cushions for the sofa and, if you've got wall space, a cheap colourful abstract canvas type thing. Shops like Dunelm Mill and The Range are your friend for this type of things. Even supermarket homeware sections.
By the time you've bought 3 or 4 bunches of flowers, you'll have spent the same anyway, and if it takes a while to sell then this will be cheaper anyway.

"Dressing" the flat can make it feel more attractive but you don't have to use fresh flowers - if you want flowers, chose some artificial ones, otherwise look for a nice ornament or an attractive bowl with some fruit in it, etc.0

Well, I read a book about some Triffids that were pretty harmful. Best avoid them...
This should help you out...

Hope that helps.
Flowers will help, anything to make the house seem a bit brighter and looked after always helps

I've just put my flat up for sale and have a cat. I used some fake flowers in the living room, and a small fake 'tree' in the bathroom, just to stop it from looking overly 'white, black and silver.' You don't need to go OTT, and if you have viewers you'd only need to run out and buy more!0

Replace your cats with flowers, I'm sure that the majority of viewers would rather see nice flowers decorating the place than have to put up with cat hairs, fleas and the various odours associated with the cats.0

Brilliant thanks guys!
I've got a nice colourful Wizard of Oz print on the wall and some cushions on the sofa - when we get closer to selling time I'll post some photos so you can give your opinion on the amount/lack of colour.
Luckily the cats will come with me so none of those things will be left behind...
I do like the idea of artificial flowers though - they'll last the whole time but will make a great toy for the cats... Win win?0 -
Avoid lilies and you'll be fine. If you get a bunch that has a lily in it just remove the yellow powdery bits from in the lilies - that's the poisonous bit (to cats and fish). I love lilies and have 3 cats, so I deal with it regularly.
But as a poster above says, a few cushions or wall art will have a similar effect and last longer!0 -
if you do go for fresh flowers, you can cut the stamen out if you're worried about the cats as it's usually the pollen that is the poisonous bit.0

Can you Dye the cats?
That would avoid the need to buy new cushions.0 -
If your cat looks like this it might be worth storing it somewhere before the buyers come round.
