Unfortunately, he doesn't sound very optimistic for equities over the next 3 to 5 years but I think I may invest the non Cash ISA part of my available funds this year in his 2 funds.
I've been investing in Woodfords funds since around 1993 and I can't think of a time when he has been positive about equities.Take my advice at your peril.0 -

Perhaps it is wise to invest with a pessimist. After all Woodford has dodged some big bullets such as dotcom & banking shares. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
He is very knowledgeable, as you would expect an expert in his field to be. But he is only human like the rest of us and cannot predict the future any more than anybody else can.
I am happy to have a bit of my investments with Woodford but I would never put my entire trust into one single person, regardless of who they are. What would happen if an accident/bad health rendered him unable to work tomorrow (not that I wish that on him)?0 -

I wouldn't wish that on anyone either but if it was to happen I would just switch out of his funds into something else.
Part of the problem with picking an active fund is you don't always know who is going to be in charge in 5 years time or whos performance you are looking at when you look at a lifetime graph. One of the reasons I like the Woodford fund is I believe he is in for the long haul now and wont suddenly jump ship like a lot of these guys do for whatever reason (yes I know he left IP but that was after 26 years or something like that). If you go with an active fund I believe you have to keep a close eye in case the manager you picked stops being in charge of it for whatever reason, and if that happens re-evaluate your position.0 -

This is the programme I was talking about.
Just watched this and must say I liked the refreshing lack of BS in his responses to the question. He gave very carefully considered answers, which is responsible, but didn't seem reluctant to criticise the financial industry, to express concern about the short-term future, etc.(Nearly) dunroving0 -
Deleted - mis-post.
But I will add that I'm buying WPCT in next year's ISA.0 -
Just gone with a small amount, is basically a punt on Woodford himself, also something different for my portfolio.0
