    Morning (just!) all!

    I achieved everything on my list yesterday including a NSD! :j

    Hope the poorly people are feeling better.

    I see some of you watched that Eat well for less programme last night - all I can say is "wow"!!! £355 grocery shopping on an average week! They were definite food snobs!

    Today I have/will:-
    * Check banks
    * Check TCB
    * Check free postcode lottery
    * Bring lunch to work
    * Fill water bottle up at work
    * Go for a walk at lunch
    * Earn more on One Poll
    * Dinner from stores
    * Must finish stripping wallpaper tonight in the utility room as plasterer may be coming tomorrow (so OH informs me). "Easy" I here you say! "Wet it down" was that?! I'm afraid not! It's a layer of wood chip on top of wallpaper painted with the most water repellent paint I've ever come across! So that will be my exercise for the day!
    * Finish moving everything out the way for plasterer

    Think that's everything for today - I think it may be a late night!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,555.00
    Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)

    Hello Friday People,
    Here are today's small contributions:
    *Washed hair & let it get almost completely dry before finishing with dryer & straighteners, so that I don't spend the weekend looking like Crystal Tipps......hey, that's dated me, hasn't it?! Who else can remember her? (Or will admit to it, lol)
    *Texted this week's grocery budget to mr f. He's intending to pick the shopping up on his way home from work.
    *Cleaned entire house using minimal products.
    *Fed the birds with all the crumbs emptied out of the toaster, 2 chopped up cheapo fat balls & some old cat food which unusually, cat refused to eat.
    *Did a very few surveys.
    *De-cluttered today's 6 items, so that's a total of 20 so far since I started this challenge.
    *Make loaf in bread maker.
    *Make list of all jobs I need to do in town tomorrow to avoid having to pay more parking when I go back to do the forgotten or poorly planned ones.
    Ground frozen again this morning, so still not a gardening day. Hope to get out there some time over the weekend.
    Oh.My.Days. 'Eat well for less'!! £18000 a year on food shopping! Mr f nearly had to administer the kiss of life when I heard that!! My favourite bit was when they all preferred the carrot sticks which had been freshly cut up at home because they were more carotty. Well, they would be, wouldn't they? They haven't been prepared a long time in advance in a factory & packed into a plastic bag filled with gas. It's not rocket science! I don't want to be mean, they seemed a nice family & each to their own, but it was interesting when one of the presenters said that the most expensive way to buy food is to buy everything ready-made & branded. I'd add to that failing to meal plan or write a shopping list. Those have got to be the 4 food-buying habits which see the most money being hoovered out of your bank account.
    Can hear cat wrecking something.
    Love to all,
    f x

    I was deeply disturbed by Crystal Tipps and Alistair... and I have no idea why :/

    Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All
    Just put the first of 3 washes out on the line. Its blowing up a gale out there, in a good way, so Im hoping it will take a little drying rack time off as its mostly all sheets and towels.
    I spent a bit of time reading the 5 frugal things blog on the Non Consumer Advocate, she'd fit right in with us lot. Although I was surprised to read in the comments section that some of her readers had never thought to cut open a toothpaste tube for those all important days worth of brushing before hitting the bin. Its funny what you take for granted as a given.

    Had a nice little walk through the park by the river this morning & a small chat with a couple who were photographing the kingfisher that my family also love to spot. They also agreed it was most likely a green headed woodpecker I saw in the grass the other day.

    Foxgloves - I do feel like the overall format of the show is naff. It doesnt really do enough on any of the fronts. Seen people on here saying, it isnt frugal enough to be of use. Its not practical enough to be educational. And it keeps picking on people who really dont NEED the money. I'd love to see them really helping people kind of like a foodie DIY SOS, which is always so much more touching. The faux concern shown by Greg and his buddy at the end for how much they've saved these wealthy people is just crocodile tears.

    JoJo - That sounds nicer than the individual shots. I reckon the photographres probably charge more these days because they struggle to make the money they used to pre digital. These days we can snap a pic in 2 secs on a phone and send it to our mum, gran etc, whereas in my day, my gran got photos probably twice a year from school as even developing a film in boots was expensive then.

    I only watched the first couple of minutes off eat well for less. It just seemed to be the exact same as the previous week, just swapping the food. Was kind off hoping it would move to a different area each week but as it seamed like it was going to be exactly the same with a different family I switched it of. I did enjoy the food info the previous week but I can watch them online without all the other rubbish :-D

    £355 a week shopping! I spend £20-£30 including everything needed for the household and I reckon I could cut that back a little. I eat well, at least 5 fruit n veg a day, meat and fish 3 meals and 1 dessert plus snacks! It only goes up to £30 when bulk buying nappies/wipes and washing powder. I do like to keep a good stock in so if I'm too poorly Or poor :-D to go shopping me and my little family are ok. I been there before when your making meals out of thin air, possible but don't really want to do it again!

    There's still lots I can learn, but not off that tv show...

    Wow JoJo! If you don't mind me asking - how many do you buy for? I'm constantly trying to get my food bill down - thought I did well last week with £32.10 for two people! I think that was my lowest to date since I entered the grown up world of running a house last June!
