Friday 6 February - What small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:money:

    Good Morning All

Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

Achieved lots yesterday, so am raring to go and hoping for another productive day:

BIGGIE: Investigate a new kitchen sink and taps - not sure if we will have to replace worktops too :( (will also need to find a price for a handyman to do job so we can decide whether we pay someone or do it ourselves - which will obviously take us longer - does that make sense)

Wrap sis-in-laws bday pressie (from stash) -

Packed lunch for DH - Done
Await freegler collecting football net from garden (so that's looking better already)
Craft (make a few more cards) -
    Continue de-cluttering -
    Continue purge on Emails -
    Filing & Shredding -
    Catch up on surveys -
    Check Banks -
    Check swapits -
    Enter a few comps -
    All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer -
Check https://www.freepostcodelottery.com - Remember there are now 4 chances to win -
    Read - In progress

Have a great day, love to you all

  • Good Morning!

Thanks for the start Ziggy. My sympathies to everyone feeling under the weather. I woke up with the beginnings of a cold. I'm hoping it won't develop into anything, but it's definitely giving me that "Can't Be Bothered" feeling.

Doesn't help that I took a tumble walking home from work yesterday and have 2 bruised knees and, so it would appear today, a bruised shoulder. :(

    My Frugal Friday...
    • Take water to town to prevent snack buying :D
    • Get OH's something nice, but cheap, for Valentines
    • Heating Off
    • Lights Off
    • Get some more washing done and on the airer
    • Grocery NSD (all I need today is Valentines Pressie)
    • Do something about the bombsite I call home

That's about it for me :)

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Good morning all
Well I felt better at 10pm last night than I had all day and so far the fog appears to still be gone, illness wise. I have managed to change all bedding in son's room, start a wash off, read through a load of pension paperwork and tidy round.
Amazing how much better you can do when you feel well.
So sympathies to you MMM, I'm sure your bad night didn't help the other night.

Ziggy - how exciting about your kitchen project. You could maybe mention it on the frugal living board too as I have seen a few people there talking about buying pre used kitchen suites from people who are remodelling then you get nearly new for cheap. Either way how cool.

Carrie - sorry your presso got pushed back. Hate it when I'm psyched to do something then it doesn't happen.

Jo Jo - hope you like the school photo. I haven't bought either of my son's individual photos the last 2 years. They've been appalling. My husband is a fantastic photographer so I don't see the point paying for something I don't like.

I don't have anything major to achieve today. It's Friday. I have work the next 2 days and just want to try and keep feeling on an even keel so will take it easy.

    Have a good day all.

    Bob

  • Morning all

Lots of poorly people just now, hope you're all feeling better soon.

    Todays list:
    • Lunch - salad made with roast squash left over from last nights dinner
    • Dinner - beef curry in the slow cooker
    • Check banking
    • Check onepoll and swagbucks
    • Clean back lobby and downstairs toilet
    • Go for a walk after work as I didn't have time to exercise this morning
    • Cancel credit card which I was supposed to do a few days ago but got peeved off trying to find out how to contact them! They make it easy to sign up but not so easy to get rid of...
    • Sort out meal plan for weekend and most of next week, using up what I have in the house
    • Pay car tax :( but at least this comes out of a separate 'car' savings account so doesn't affect my budget :T
    • Car tax aside, I think I'm looking at a NSD today
    Have a great Friday! x

Not today exactly but didn't post yesterday, so..

I started going through the freezer prior to starting an online shop last night and realised there are at least a couple more meals in there so I've put it off for a couple of days. I will be in a town with an Aldl on Saturday so I'm going to go and see what I can get there and then build the rest of my shop around that.

I've chased the estate agent this morning for feedback from last weekends viewers. One isn't replying to their messages and the other said it was a nice house but too small for them. Some one is coming on Saturday who is looking for somewhere they can extend (and we're one of the few in our road that haven't) so fingers crossed.

I have splurged on a ready meal for lunch, my excuse is that today is press day and due to the system being a complete shambles here it's ikely to be a late one and I wanted something that will fill me up for the duration.

The shoes I ordered with DS's suit don't fit and due to him being a rude, ungrateful, spoilt brat he will now be getting shoes from MrT which will be half the price.
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10

    Bob

The indivual photos are always bad...
However they are doing class photos today, there really arty with kids doing different things, holding toys etc. not like your traditional class photo so should be good. However I must admit there are really expensive, think the schools should shop around more. I normally get photos done in town for £5.99 which as the same amount has the £22 offer you get from school photographs!!!
