jet2 decision on my compensation claim

My initial claim went in May 2014, and advised they could not agree until final court hearing was concluded. So after writing aging this month their decision is that they are using extraordinary circumstances, based on the fault on the aircraft is due to maintenance carried out by a third party, and therefore I have no claim agaibt my 7 hour delay.
I have looked through the case, yet can't find if what they say is correct, or do I have to write back and request a further and detailed explanation ?
Thanks in advance
Alison

Some members of this forum who spend a lot of time here get fed up with newbies asking the same questions so thats why you got told to read the stickies. In short Jet2 will keep finding reasons not to pay you. You are only likely to get paid if you take them to court. You can do it yourself (using the online small claims form or if there is more than 1 claimant using claim form N1). Alternatively you can use a no win no fee company such as bott and co who will take about 30% of your compo.
Just at the moment jet2's latest reason for not paying is because there is a case pending in the netherlands and they want the uk courts to wait until this has happened (to see if technical faults can be described as extraordinary circumstances)
There are a stack of court cases at Liverpool that were stayed pending the outcome of jet2's appeal to the supreme court. I think there will be a decision later in feb whether these cases can now proceed. If the court says jet2 cannot have a stay it's difficult to see how jet2 can win these cases, based on the fact that the supreme court has already ruled that tech issues are not extraorinary circumstances (in effect).0
