Easyjet flight change within 30 minutes of booking

Options
In September 2014 I booked return flights (6 persons) from Bristol to Faro for May 2015 but unfortunately clicked on the evening return flight rather than the morning return flight. I realised my mistake immediately and changed my booking but was charged £330. Is there anyway I can claim back some or all of this? Advice appreciated.

Sounds like you paid the difference in fare for the new flight (the morning flight was more expensive than the evening one)

If the flights were booked 5 months ago, it's a bit late to do anything about it now.

If you'd called them and explained the mistake at the time chances are they would have waived the change fee. Now I'm guessing it's way too late. But why would you ask in here rather than ask easyJet?

wish people would read the posts correctly. the title of the op says they realised 30 minutes after booking and within the body of the post they use they word "immediately". However i do not understand why they are only now seeking advice

I think that everyone who has responded has read both the title and post correctly and responded accordingly, what makes you think that anything was misunderstood ??

I think everyone understood that perfectly well. I assumed the OP changed the flight online after booking and is now asking if they can get the money back. That's why I said they should have called easyJet at the time.

    I certainly did.

I understood the OP booked the wrong flights and immediately changed his booking.

I couldn't understand why the OP is asking - 5 months later - about claiming some money back.
  • I did similar today.

Managed to book from Southend instead of Stansted (don't ask, getting old) for 3 adults.

I noticed about 40 mins later when printing everything off.

Logged in to their Web site, it said there was a £35 charge per person for booking changes, I went through the process on the off chance that only applied after say 24 hrs, but cancelled when it came out with the final cost which included £35 per person.

Phoned them up expecting the worst, very helpful, waived the three £35 charges and changed the booking to correct airport and emailed me conformation.
The way things are going, soon we are all going to be victims of something or other.

    Who will we blame then?

In cases of these errors made a short time after booking (typically 24hrs) it is always best to call the airline concerned to try and make the required amendment. Most airlines will be relatively helpful in these situations and will normally make the adjustment on the spot and without a charge.

It always surprises me that people will try to rebook on the website and assume that the airline systems will automatically pick up on what is being done and magically reduce the price of the new seats, pick up on a 'duplicate' booking (even if the names are different) or that having rebooked and blocked more seats that airlines won't later cancel the extra seats being held. Don't press anymore buttons, call someone that knows what they are doing and can help!

A polite call to the airline to admit the booker made a mistake with typing in the passenger names, the date, the airports - will often be dealt with fairly by the airline call centre agent - but only if done promptly. Ditto if you check immediately the first email confirmation or e-ticket arrives.

I can somewhat sympathise with airline agents when someone doesn't check the confirmation documents until days/weeks later and then attempts to rectify their own error, or rings up to rant about a faulty website! Common sense and a polite approach often sorts out many problems in life!

Well done 'iwanttobefree' - glad you took the wise approach and had the innocent error corrected without fuss or charge. Fly happy!
