Talktalk Reputation Rebuild has not worked on me

Options
As an existing TalkTalk customer I have just tried to change my option package from Option 3 to Option 2, and get my costs reduced and still retain my broadband connection.
After calling three different numbers and being passed on twice I finally managed to talk to someone who knew the answer. It was no. It seems I have an 18 month contract which has another 3 months to run. I was also told (very politely) that if I were to cancel my contract early, I would have to pay a £70 fee. I said I would cancel my direct debit. To be told that I would be persued by a private debt collector. It seems that the Option 2 offer is available to ''new customers only''.

That does make sense as the contract does not say you can downgrade your tariff until you're out of contract. And I assume the £70 is linked the the number of months remaining on your contract.

Out of curiosity, in 3 months time will it be 18 months since you signed up with TalkTalk or 18 months since you were connected to the broadband - assuming of course you too had the delay in being connected due to over-subscription.

You agreed to an 18 month contract with an early cancellation fee when you signed up and it was discussed everywhere and was clearly displayed in their advertising. Are you saying that you did not know about this? When your minimum term has elapsed you can do what you want but cancelling your DD is stupid.

  • I agree, they got me when I started the contract. Every contact I have had with TalkTalk has been negative. Buy cheap, and get a cheap sevice. The loss of service and thereafter fault diagnosis is frustrating when it is difficult to contact the provider. I have found that TalkTalk is difficult to communicate with, and offers no apology or recompence for loss of service. Their customer relations are nil. The option 2 offer is open to existing customers who do not already have broadband. I wonder if they have contracts and are able to move to option 2? As a long standing customer it seems I will have to pay more (indirectly) for my broadband connection than those who are on option 2. So much for customer loyalty.
