These chevrons appeared 2 days ago. Are you not to enter/cross these i.e making it a 1 lane roundabout.
I've never come across markings like this on a roundabout, have you?

Yeah, they done it on a roundabout near me but not all the way around it.
It was a 2 lane dual carriageway going onto a 3 lane roundabout and for some reason lots of people got confused about the lanes and over a few years there was rarely a day that went by where there wasn't a bump.

Broken line so can enter as long as exit is clear, maybe to stop people entering that section and later cutting in/queue jumping. Saves 2 lanes of traffic fighting it out where it would be a squeeze. So you can drive through it to take a better line, but not enter and sit there and queue. What it looks like to me anyway... :)

And, it wasn't necessary for them to enter it chevrons.

They're probably as confused as everyone else seems to be ;)

Simple rule of thumb is - if there's white paint on the road "filling" an area like that then treat it like a solid obstacle and don't drive over it.

It's not strictly 100% true but it's a safe approach if in doubt and avoids you driving around "confused" :)

But that would be less safe in some instances, so not a safe approach.

    Sorry, no.

You can enter if it's safe to do so. Nothing to do with your exit being clear.

Really? I'm struggling to think of a single instance where entering a chevron area is safer than not (excluding things like broken down vehicles blocking the clear carriageway of course).

It may be quicker at times by, for instance, allowing overtakes that wouldn't otherwise be possible without cutting someone up, but not safer than just chilling and waiting for a better opportunity.
