Because I don't believe in driving traffic to unsolicited blogs here is the text for anyone who doesn't want to click.

FWIW, bloke went arsey with Next, Next employee decided to wind him up a bit. Personally I have little sympathy. You catch more flies with honey and all that.

Thanks for posting the transcript pulliptears.

That's five minutes of my life wasted. I'm putting it down to experience
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical
  • Popped in earlier, and thought no! Was going to interrupt for the hard of reading, but this is a factual summary by another user!

Do Next really send their catalogue out unsolicited? I find that unlikely. Oh, it would appear they don't. So just a mistake then and no need for any big debate.

And if they had sent it unsolicited, why didn't he just google the Unsolicited Goods and Services Act where he'll have discovered that he could do exactly what he liked with the catalogue whilst ignoring any requests for payment?

But that makes for a really dull blog I guess.

My mum and I both received one unsolicited last year, but when we let them know they apologised and said to keep it with their compliments - no fuss and a far shorter conversation than above ;)

    Public domain ;)

Or would you rather earn OP a little money driving traffic to his blog?

    ETA.

Blog displays NO copyright notice and gives the reader the option to share the content via twitter, Facebook and email or to print the article.

Why would you care whether the OP makes a small amount of money by people clicking on his blog?

Besides it seems a bit of double standards from yourself as I am sure around a year ago you were marketing your blog on this site. I seem to remember it was something to do with painting nails like cartoon characters......

All a bit pointless really because if he read the T&C of his next account he has agreed to accept and be charged for these catalogues when he opened the account.

My blog was shared amongst friends on a nail thread up in health and beauty (strange you found yourself on that). When MSE objected to us sharing our work on the thread we moved to a private forum which is still run behind closed doors. Our blog links are shared amongst each other as a hobby and my blog is not linked to any form of marketing so I don't and never have made money out of it.

Posting links like this for clicks can be profitable and is generally frowned on in the blogging community.

I'm sure I didn't read your blog on health and beauty (although if I did you do realise that when you post on a web forum you are not just sharing with your friends).

I think you used to link it to your profile as I am sure I saw it when I was randomly browsing posters profiles on the site.

Either way I don't see why it is remotely your business if people click on that link, plus ironically to get the content to post on here you had to click on the link yourself. You would be far better just reporting to MSE and let them deal with it as opposed to being some sort of crazy vigilante which has just led to people getting into arguments on this thread.

You remind me of another poster as she deliberately posts inflammatory things to just get a reaction out of other posters and sidetrack a thread.

Also are you sure you make no money when people click on the adverts for nail polish on your blog?

100% positive. Not even signed up for Adsense which is needed to make money. Aside from anything else even if I was signed up to adsense, with roughly 1 page hit a day it's hardly my retirement plan now is it?
Nice screenshot here for you showing my blogs 'earnings' page ;)

    Back to topic.

Had OP come on and said he had a run in with Next and given some brief detail of his issues then said 'and you can read my story more in depth here...' then fair enough. But they left a blog link with a misleading title (because they didn't bill Next at all) then vanished.
The post is just there to drive traffic to a blog. No more.
