Capital One 4% Cashback

I was attracted by the 4% cashback for the first 3 months offer.
I've got the card but no PIN. I'm told it probably got lost in the post! All other communications have arrived OK. Another PIN will be provided in 3/4 days.
So far I've "lost" 2 weeks of the 3 months when I could have been earning the 4% cashback. I'm told I can use it for on-line purchases but I don't make many of those.
I intend to wait until a PIN turns up and then ask for an extention so I get the full 3 months - has anyone had the same problem?
Regards

Hi
i applied for the cashback card & was refused. i dont have a mortgage any more it was repaid,i dont have any debts whatsoever, i have 1 credit card which i pay off in full every month! i have asked for an explanation for refusal as i have done a credit check on line for free which i scored 892 5 star, so wheres the logic in refusal? probably they wont make money out of me so have refused me. The delay with the pin seems another con to stop them dishing out the cash!!0 -
I've just completed the online application form and got the message that they will write to me in 7 days, so presumably I won't get it!!!Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0

No - not at all. I had the same 7 day wait and recieved a letter saying I had been accepted. Today I got my card with a very healthly credit limit. I had been a good customer about 3 years ago. I do not know if this helped.0

Some people report receiving the card ahead of the PIN some (such as myself) after (in my case 4 days including the w/e)
[From 'Rebates':]
"You will receive a rebate of 4% on all purchases.. applied to [the] account [in] the first 3 months of your account opening date"
When I phoned up and activated the card I was told that this meant 'first use' of the card [dubious]. I suggest you check with C1 this specific point since if you make no purchases until you get the PIN they may set the date accordingly. I believe my period runs from the actual date of activation anyway - since I had the PIN and started using it the same day.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
They told me my start date was the 26th July. I received my card yesterday.
Customer services said it is from when the account is created 'on the system' after receiving back the signed form.0 -
Hi,
I got my card about a week after my "opening" date, but when no pin after a further 3 days called as they said they'd send out reminders - got my pin 2 days later. I suggest to anyone who's applied to call them asking where their PIn / card is!
For my dad it happened the other way round - got pin quickly, but no sign of the card. I suppose they just like to while away our 4% bonus period, which they'll do unless action is taken ASAP - that's my suggestion anyway.
Good luck folks!Friendly greeting!0 -
Yes of course it's all their fault.
It's a deliberate consipracy theory.
The postal strikes aren't happening.....lah lah lah.0 -
hwales - like you I received a letter yesterday telling me that my application has been refused. I am in exactly the same position as you with a paid-off mortgage, a card paid in full every month, no other debts and a good credit history. I called them today for an explanation and they said the lending criteria is "confidential" and so they couldn't give me any more information. This is irresponsible lending at it's best and it seems obvious that CO will not make any money out of "borrowers" like us. Out of interest, do you have the link for the free credit scorer you used?0
