What sort of d!ck are you going to sound like saying you have a provisional license then phoning back later saying "Oh sorry I made a mistake, I have passed my test but I forgot" :rotfl:

    Indeed.. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Almost as bad as telling people you have a Rover 200.. ;)

  • I have been looking for car insurance for my 17yr old son who is desperate to buy his own car so that he can 'practice'.
By accident I found a very cheap quote from
    www.expressinsurance.co.uk
which came in cheaper than Quinn direct by over £1000! It was only a little renault clio but with me on it as well for TPFT it was £1500 quid! Some of the quotes we have been getting were more than three grand! So they are well worth a look!

Im 21 and drive an unmodified 2005 1.4 new shape ford focus, only insurance group 4. However it is £1,444 a year fully comp with legal cover and full homestart breakdown. Best deal i could get. I have just tried your recommendations but sadly they were rubbish. Quinn direct or whatever it was was £600 more a year, and express was £100 more, but included a whopping £1000 excess!!

Im with Virgin and would recommend it to anyone, especially young drivers or those with claims, those whose insurance will be high. It is cheap and doesn't cost anything extra to pay monthly, so saving a fortune in the interest you would pay with many other insurers. Their customer service is excellent also.
Car Finance = £2807 (aiming for settlement figure at two year mark)
Total Saved = £1316 in 10 months, £1491 to go.

Student Loan left to repay = £5144

Did you shop around or just use a screenscraper site? That price sounds very high to me. Also unless you got a very good deal on the breakdown cover that is usually cheaper buying direct.

I find the best way each year is to get a yellow pages and call as many 0800 no's as your patience allows.

i did get quotes from the screenscapers but they were 'ok' to 'horrendous', one was over £20,000 !!!

so i went online and went through dozens upon dozens of insurance companies, virgin are the cheapest.

Bearing in mind i have zero no claims and a claim in Jan 07 for an accident, not my fault, which involved me on an icy morning writing off my brand new 06 mini when someone kindly left a great big pile of road salt/grit on the top of a hill which you couldn't see to you got there, went through it and straight down the other side of the hill spinning around into a hardcore barrier :(
