I was listening to the radio a few weeks ago, someone from the BMA was on talking about the expansion of the Consultant treatment outcomes data. For some reason they were against publishing data. I wonder if it's even available in NI?

It's probably hard to make a comparison. Some doctors deal with lung cancer, others with acne.

I think it compares a range of specialities and procedures.

Well the privately employed nursing staff would hardly say it was a third rate surgeon now would they :rotfl:
No probably not but then I have a few brain cells myself and I was able to look up his details online and was able to confirm what I was told.

As I said I was talking from personal experience and do not know all of the consultants used or their abilities.

So NI does have a database on consultant treatment outcomes? If not what do you look up to help you define "top".
  • I know this is an old thread but I just want to warn anyone thinking of joining Benenden.
In Feb 2015 I contacted Benenden by email and told them I was on a waiting list for an operation on my neck.I told them the name of it and specifically mentioned I live in NI.I asked if I joined Benenden could I get the procedure done through their company.

I received a reply stating there was a qualifying period of 6 months then they could help.

Based on this I joined and waited 6 months. Applied and got a short reply that they were unable to help.

I was amazed by this. I have made a complaint and luckily kept all emails.
It would appear they will tell you anything to get you to sign up
