Hi

Just wondering if anyone is a member of Benenden Healthcare and if so what kind of experiences they have had with them? Debating whether to join or not?? :)

I am a member and have found them great. Thank goodness have not had to use them much but when we did it was very seamless. My colleagues recommended them to me and I am glad they did. I would be happy to recommend.

I have used them twice, had my gallbladder out and used them to jump the waiting list for a consultant. Appt was for next day!

Excellent customer service, no excess fees and very easy to to talk to.
I could not fault them at all.

How does it compare pricewise to Bupa? I have joint membership through the OH but it's a taxable benefit.

We lost private healthcare in work, so I went Benenden, haven't had the misfortune to use them yet but they're very reasonable to pay and so far all dealings with them have been very professional

There are a lot of things they don't cover and at that price - don't expect too much.
  • Hi there, I am a member, but am seriously considering leaving as the hospital they use is in Ballykelly, and i live at the other end of the country. When I needed surgery it was unrealistic to go there and ask family to travel that distance to visit.

Depends on what operation/procedure is required. They use both hospitals and usually the top consultants from the NHS hospitals.

I am fairly certain their website sets out what all operations/procedures are covered by the Health Insurance and which hospitals will be used to carry out the work.
They also have a 24 hour GP Advice helpline.

I personally think they are extremely good value for money.
  • Good value for money. They do use both hospitals but ballykelly offers a wider range of surgeries. I had the misfortune to be operated on there last year. While benenden were great, the hospital wasn't. Had knee surgery and my follow up appointment consisted of me walking into the room and the surgeon commenting that I was moving a lot better and so that was me discharged!
