I imagine the OP was a joy to deal with, hopefully you can try your "charms" out on the bench.0

I'm sure I'm not the only one who would welcome all cars to be fitted with signal blocking devices.
I do not see any phone call that cannot wait till a break or end of journey, regardless. Cradle or no cradle !!!!!!, they are a serious mental distraction, loss of concentration and that should put an end to it whilst driving.
And before someone starts bleating about the passengers in the car not being able to use theirs . . . who cares? Get over it. Same applies to them - I do not see any phone call that cannot wait till a break or end of journey.
But you can legally use your mobile when driving when calling 999.
Think of a woman out driving on her own and someone is trying to ram her off the road, or rob her or rape her - be handy to use the phone then, don't you think?0 -
Mr Mc Haggis you are ill informed. That offence is about the injury caused by reason of the driving.
If you would like further proof of that come to court with me later this month and you will see the offence being prosectuted
I think you'll find unless they can prove dangerous drive the prosecution will fail.0 -

Sounds like a scene from "Vampire bikers on the M25" where does your imagination take you ?
I'm sure I saw it myself, I liked the part where the police arrive at a scene of carnage, a 45 seater coach ablaze on its roof, crashed cars and lorries all around, as the gang of armed Vampire bikers ride off before the sun rises after raping and pillaging a coach load of 40 virgins, and the driver says
"Thank god your here officer, I rang you from my mobile as they rammed the bus, blew out the tyres with machine guns and fired RPG's at us, but at least we are safe"
Just can't remember the police officer saying "Ello Ello, now then Sir, are you admitting to using your mobile phone whilst driving ? you are not obliged to say anything...............:rotfl:
OMG I think I need to get out more !0 -

What's the all about?
Justin was corect in what he said.0 -
Hilarious.
So why are you allowed to phone the police whilst driving then?0 -
Phoning 999 whilst driving is the ONLY time that you are allowed to use a mobile phone whilst driving *. Have done so myself once when idiots, where due to one carriageway being blocked, were using a gap in the central reservation to U turn onto the other carriageway and joining it in the right hand lane at 15MPH when all other traffic was at 70. Suicidal!
*I am talking about physically holding the phone and not using hands freeThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Because parliament in its wisdom agreed an exemption in the C & U regs. Provided you call 999 or 112, not the local nick.0 -

And if they can't prove serious injury the S1A prosecution will fail.
So when the poster mentioned an offence involving injury by driving, you were quite wrong to tell him there's no such offence, especially when an offence of causing injury by negligent driving has been on the statutes for +150 years.Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.0
