H&M and returns

Hi there.

I have ordered some clothes on H&M website.
They arrived on time but some of the items were too small so I ordered a courier to pick the items back.

They have got some silly system that you have to wait between 8am and 8pm weekdays (8am and 6pm saturdays) over 48 hours period so literally I was stuck for two days in my house.
As it was getting late on Saturday my friend went to H&M and returned the items to the shop but there was no courier within 48 hours so I waited for nothing.
When I was abroad I got a text from my flatmate (on Wednesday - 3 days after the pick up deadline!) that courier had shown up at around 9pm.

Do I have any rights for compensation (lost time)?

Kind regards

The courier did not show up till 3pm on Sat (the courier was ordered for Friday till Saturday) so a friend of mine went to shop to return the items and I was at home and no courier came in those 2 days.

So the courier turned up twice? Why did your friend go to the shop when the courier was booked and turned up in the time frame given?

    No, you do not.

You accepted that you needed to wait for two days whilst the courier decided when to come. You chose to do that, therefore you have no claim.

Your alternative was to take the package to the Post Office, as described in their Returns FAQs:
If your parcel was delivered by courier, it can also be collected by the courier at no cost. Call Customer Services on 03 44 736 9000 (calls from a UK landline will be at the basic national call rate-mobiles may vary, please check with your provider) to arrange a suitable time for pick up. These parcels also contain a returns label that can be attached to your parcel and send at your local Post Office, free of charge. Please include your completed returns slip in the parcel.

I could take the package to the PO but decided to wait for the courier.
The courier did not arrive within 48 hours so I have waited for nothing :(

But you were prepared to wait and knew that you may have to wait 48hrs.

You accepted that situation. You have suffered no loss.

English is not my first language so I am sorry for the confusion.
I have changed the description in first post.

I have accepted that I have to wait 2 days and there would be no problem if the courier arrived even a minute before the pick up deadline. Unfortunately no one came about.
The conclusion is that I have waited 2 days and no courier was seen to collect the items so I have lost 2 days.

From the description that is now posted I'd say the OP has a good case for being annoyed, and the courier failed to perform as contracted, but whether there is any claim for compo available I'm not sure.

When you say you ordered a courier, do you mean that you arranged for them to come and you paid for the collection, or was it organised by H&M? If it's the former have they refunded you?

You lost 2 days of what...work?...life?

You agreed to wait in for these 2 days anyway you didn't wait anymore than you had agreed as your friend returned the stuff for you....
You could of just used a Parcelshop without the need to book a courier its better than waiting around for a courier to deliver or collect.

Having re-read your original post, I can see that you have suffered a loss.

That loss is whatever it cost your friend to go to the H&M store to return the goods.
