Question about BT fibre and line rental

Hi all,

I've been with BT for the last year, and contract up at the end of the month. They've offered a new deal, but it's not as good as I can get if I signup as a new customer, and also can't avail of cashback or whatever. Can I let this lapse and signup as a new customer?

Also, last month I paid line rental in full... how does this work if I let it laspe?

Thanks in advance!

If you mean line rental saver - you lose it if you move/lapse your BT line.

Lose it as in get what I haven't used back? Can I move it to another BT product do you know?

No lose it as in lose it.
Line rental saver is just that, if you don't have a BT line forget it - all of it.

No - the deal is for new customers for a reason - you'd have to change your name and lose the existing prepayment.

Ah ok I get ya. So cashback etc is all out for me then. There's me thinking I was being clever saving on the line rental, but I've just tied myself into BT for year.

Worthwhile pushing for the same offers new customers get, or futile? Thanks again for your responses

sign up to Sky instead and get their new customer offer (six months free fibre broadband) and you can get Quidco cashback.

then in 18 months when Sky contract is up, switch back to BT and get their new customer offer.

EDIT - just realised you have already paid up front for BT, then no switching for you for 12 months.
