Buying ex-motability car?

  • It's not that unusual for motability cars to have the manual missing or unstamped. However, you should be able to get a print out of the services from a Citroen dealer. You can get a replacement manual and the dealer should stamp it up for you.

With regard to the warranty, I couldn't see whether there is a claim limit. When we were looking recently, one dealer offered an all singing and dancing warranty but there was a claim limit of £500 (inc. VAT) i.e. £400 (in the small print). This wouldn't cover serious engine or transmission problems.

Cars bought at Auction? Most dealers do.

Fleet Cars properly serviced? Not always the case, margins are tight and repairs and servicing is screwed right down.

A lot of motobility cars I have seen lined up at auction often look unloved. It's a free car and many treat it with little or no respect.

Arnold Clark?? Well read reviews and make up your own mind!

11000m in 4yrs not that good. A car is better to be used.

    You don't say how much.
Its not a 'free' car. The money comes from the persons DLA. They exchange this for the car. Also, higher spec models require an advance payment which the customer has to pay for themselves. To another poster, it's 2 people only on the insurance, not 3.

Sorry you are wrong, only 2 can be named on the insurance without any cost, a 3rd driver can be on it but that comes at an additional cost. It says this on Motabilitys web site.

And what do they have to do to get the DLA?

It's a free car instead of the money.

They would get the money instead of the car. Any money you get comes from someone else. Your salary is given to you by your employer. Once you get it, it's yours. DLA is given by the Government, once they give it to you, it's your money. How you decide to spend it is up to the person. Some use it to buy their own car instead, some exchange it for Motability.

So unless they add money to it, it's a free car as it's not something you have to work for.

Do you have a problem with people having Motability?

No, do you have a problem accepting it's a free car?

I've no problem having an Motability car as it comes of my DLA. I would buy my own car using the money if I wasn't on the scheme.
