Ebay still has a bad name in a lot of peoples minds, that you either will not receive what you brought or it will be only fit for the bin. Trying to get rid of the rubbish sellers can only be a good thing. There are still listings which list terms and conditions which basically say that if it gets lost then tough luck you are on your own.
The fact that companies such as Tesco, Debenhams, Argos etc... who have big enough customer numbers selling direct, feel the need to sell on Ebay, shows that Ebay isn't going to disappear in the near future.
I really do feel for the few innocent sellers who get caught up in sellers purges. However most will not be missed from Ebay and will just increase confidence in the existing sellers.
The "Ebay is dead and I am not selling on them ever again" posts every time Ebay changes something is getting boring though.0 -

The people on the forums you posted links to are not "everyone".
Ebay do get rid of some sellers, but they don't do it for no reason. The ones they get rid of are ones breaking site rules or have gone below standard. Of course, you might disagree with what "below standard" means, but ebay are not just binning sellers at random.0 -

Are there any other well known events that you'll in denial of?
Nope, not me.0 -
I think the purge concept is largely a conspiracy theory, more likely it happens after a cycle of changes set in. As for sellers, no online platform can ever totally get rid of bad sellers, for every one that gets banned or quits another takes their place.I really do feel for the few innocent sellers who get caught up in sellers purges. A new Amazon competitor has popped up recently, they seem to be an established company, their latest negative feedback suggests they haven't a clue about online selling. They raised the postage price after a sale, asked the buyer for more, buyer paid and then was made to wait an extra week for postage. Whether amateur or professional these type of sellers will always be around.
Internet selling expectations are very high, I'm not sure Ebay do enough to tell sellers what is expected of them, so when they are suspended it comes as a surprise..0 -
Ok fella, you keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel all warm and fuzzyBrooker_Dave wrote: »Everyone else seems to think so.
Yes...Brooker_Dave wrote: »Are there any other well known events that you'll in denial of?
9/11 was not a conspiracy.
The Charlie Hebdo shootings were not black ops.
The moon landings were not faked.
Elvis is not alive and kicking somewhere.0 -

A bit like the denied ebay seller limits that turned out to be true?

Is this ecommercebytes website a windup or just written by the tin foil hat brigade? Seller limits have been widely known about for a lot longer than December last year (December 09, 2014 is the article date). There is a page about it in the T&Cs that I'm pretty sure has been there for longer than 7 weeks!
Even so, limits are there for a reason and reduce the number of fraudsters and scam sellers operating on eBay - they've got my vote!0 -
No, that would be something completely different. Ebay's search engine naturally throttles some sellers anyway, it's one reason why I don't use them at present.Brooker_Dave wrote: »A bit like the denied ebay seller limits that turned out to be true?

BTW why do you limit your links to the US Ebay? It works in many different ways to Ebay UK..0 -
