Got my first win email today. A Mousemat from quizonaut.
Went to arrange delivery etc and took me to a page wanting phone number to validate the win and also photo id needed uploading. Which was odd just for a mousepad.
I took pic of Id on phone but now having issues as file has to be under 0.5mb? And saying my pic isn't. But don't have any idea how to make it smaller

And not sure if it's worth all the effort. Will I have to go through IT all again if I got another win and will they want more details after I pass Id check!!!

- managed to get Id done. But now wants proof of address by uploading a utility Bill dated within 3mths. Have never been asked for this before. And I don't pay the Bills so no letters in my name.

But wanting photo evidence of Id and address seems odd. Just for Mousemat.

So Iv given it up as a loss. Not worth claiming

  • Do a search and you will see this comes up quite often. Quizonaut say this is their standard practice for validating wins. Fine for a big one, not so much for a Mousemat. Had that win myself and didn't bother (like many others before and probably after me).
  • Thanks. At least I know now not to bother even entering as can't give proof of address.
All utility bills are in other halfs name. And anything I pay I do online so don't get paper letters!!

Never thought about it for comping!

I gave up on Quizonaut. I also won the mousemat and thought was way too much hassle to claim it. But also, three emails a day from them is OTT. So I unsubscribed and have enjoyed blissful peace from them since :D

  • Same here - I won a mousemat from them and it was way to much hassle to claim the prize so didn't bother.

I have to at work, I have a side-clicking laser mouse but it doesn't work properly unless there is a mat underneath - the cursor just floats across the screen!

  • Thanks. Glad I'm not only one.
But I'm not asking other half of I can pay some of the bills just so I have proof of address for comps!! He would love that.

Will have to check comps carefully incase any need proof

Does any one know of any other sites to avoid that regularly ask for proof of address. Don't mind id as have a copy on phone now to upload easily.

Some of the individual click to wins have additional T&C's which include

The winner must verify that he/she is over 18 before the Promoter will deliver the Prize by providing a scanned copy of photo ID with the address being the same address to which the prize is meant to be delivered..

(Mainly on the radio sites but where the same competitions are on the winsomething site that will include the same terms)
  • Thanks. Will have to check carefully.
My provisional drivers license is my only form of Id with an address on but got old address on as haven't got round to updating it. My only other Id is passport which doesn't hav address on.
I tend not to go for prizes with alcohol in because of providing Id but didn't expect to for other comps.
