I was recently advised I'd won a mousemat (whoopee doo!) from Quizonaut.
Actually claiming the prize wasn't as straightforward as I'd hoped. Not only do they require a 'photoid' featuring your image with a date of birth on it, but they also demand a copy of a utility bill with your address on it. I know little about Quizonaut (I'm a relatively new comper) and declined to submit these details - it's got identity theft written all over it.
Is this a scam?

I see that one of the benefits of buying a Premium Quizonaut subscription for £35 a month is- No validation required for the prizes you win.

I suppose as they would have valid bank details they accept that as proof of id but £35 a MONTH!!0 -
Considering the mouse matt is worth around 10p what they are asking is rather strange so you did right by declining.0

I did enter a Quizonaut once and regretted it immediately afterwards. Just a hunch I had.
The recent thread on [STRIKE]'Pathetic'[/STRIKE] actually highlights this scenario as a possible future effort by comp providers to escape real problems with fraud. Divulging your personal data or incomprehensible captchas are all means to make the process more difficult in the long run.
For a mouse mat though? No way! I have one spare if you want it lol. You will need to do swab of dna from your cheek though. Waddabargain!!
EDIT: just to clarify that link referred to someone's experience working in the video game industry. They surmised that an increasing number of sites running comps may in future start demanding ID confirmation to counter potential fraud. The thread may have been deleted because posts within the thread ran a little close to forum rules?“We are not interested in the fact that the brain has the consistency of cold porridge.” - Alan Turing (1912-1954)0 -
I won a £110 amazon voucher on there and shortly after won the relaxation cd, both times I had to go through the verification process - it's a bit of a pain but I got both prizes very quickly, although I'd have to say that if I ever won the mouse mat I wouldn't bother going through that process at all.0

I've won the mousemat a few times but have never claimed as I don't really need one. I was always hoping for either the amazon of the ikea voucher - no such luck thoughThanks to all OPs and everyone who helps/posts etc!!:T0
