    His car won't be covered by their policy.
    They will be insured to drive it under their policy.

    Not sure this would comply with continuous insurance regs
  • You need to inform them of the changes to the vehicle. Use of non manufacturer paint will be classed as a modification. Furthermore, adding filler to any body panels would cause an imbalance to your vehicle which may cause your policy to be cancelled ab initio.
    :rotfl::T:rotfl::beer:best laugh all day!!.

    Manufacturers DONT make paint per-se they buy in brands PRE MIX paints that offer the best "deal" to supply them with on contract through bulk buying, so whilst they may MIX up their own paint, they don't actually MAKE the paints they mix with.

    just like a body shop who will MIX the paint onsite as per the paint code instead of buying it from the dealer.

    Filler causing an imbalance! to what? before there was filler they used to do what is called LEAD LOADING! and this never had an impact on the balance of the vehicle and lead is heavier than lightweight fillers of today.

    Only time you inform the insurers of paint, is when you change it from the manufacturers paint color, I.E From black (standard) to Purple (standard) or metal flakes or solid base to metallic base Or use colors that are funky like the house of color paint schemes.

    <snip>

    Get real with you're idiotic comments

    I think we are in the territory of Yarises with no rear brakes and cars of less than 2 litres forbidden from overtaking.

  • I was joking after all. My dry sense of humour doesn't travel too well over t'internet. Having said that, have a look at this article.

    I can kinda see their point. If I put business graphics for my watch repairs all over my car then I'd expect to ave to tell them and she is in the God business. I suspect that Age Concern don't offer business use.

    That said, it's about time that insurers were stopped from wriggling over any modifications that don't have a bearing over a given claim but it'll never happen because it's a captive market.
