  • No snow here, its all gone, quite a breeze so I have a whirly of laundry out, hoping it will dry.

Cooked an Aldi gammon joint for supper tonight, will slice it when its cold, we will have a couple of servings off it, the rest will go in the freezer. Just using the cooking liquor to make some leek and lentil soup for lunch.

No resolution of the toilet problem, I am very cross, to be without a properly flushing toilet for 4 days is just not on. The letting agents who handle the repairs were just not helpful when we rang yesterday after the plumber did not turn up on Friday. It seems because we reported a second job, we are getting a new shower, we went down to the bottom of the plumbers list. He has had family problems, so was just doing emergency work, excuse me but a non flushing toilet is an emergency. He could at least have phoned and said why he was not fitting the shower as he had promised to do.

    Rant over.
  • Good Morning everyone, we've had no real snow, just a couple of heavy rain showers with the odd flake dropping too but it is very cold out there, the wind chill is making it feel much cooler than is the actual temperature. We actually put the heating on last night as well as the stove because the house felt damp and so cold.

I've changed bedding this morning as it was looking good to dry outside but the machine has just finished and we're looking very grey so it will have to go up in the utility room instead. He Who Knows has just put up the new light fizture in the bathroon and it looks very smart indeed, it will be nice when it is finished but he's creaky today so will have a day off the painting, he certainly deserves one, he's a good boy!!! He's off to the allottment for a little light relief!!!

Stay warm everyone and have yourselves a nice day, Lyn xxx.
  • Afternoon all. Sunny but cold here. Have been up a while but watching the tennis so haven't yet got much done. Will be cooking lamb with roast potatoes, carrots and cabbage later with some h/m brownies and ice cream for pudding.

DH is pouring over the manuals for his new car; it does look nice and shiny sitting outside on the drive.
Off to London tomorrow to the V&A with some girlfriends so need to be up and out early. Managed to get 15% off my ticket with an online promo so pleased about that.
    Enjoy your day everyone.
  • Afternoon all.
Not been on here fro a while as it has been a very upsetting week. My little dog had a lump on his leg since xmas that was not bothering him (he was 15 and had lots of fatty lumps) then out of the blue on mon night / tue morning he decided to chew it. Couldnt get it to stop blleding so off to the vets. Turns out it was a cancer lump that was too far gone to operate on. So they strapped it up and sent us home. All ok till thu when he chewed a huge hole in it and when we got home from work there was blood everywhere. Back to the vets but it was too late as he was in shock from blood loss and the only thing we could do was have him put to sleep. RIP Barney x
So as you can imagine we have all been a little flat here.
Have to keep telling myself it was the kindest thing to do, and try to look forward now.
Not a lot to report on the os front as you and imagine, but must try and return to normal for my sanity.
    Hugs to all xx
    Bright Blessings xx

    Afternoon all,
Nice day but cold here.DH & I babysat last night, the DGC stayed over. Both woke during the night several times, that's not unusual for DGS but is for DGD these days,I think she was cold so I got in with her and got the biggest hug :D made the waking worthwhile. At 5 I popped DGS in with DH,then both awake at 6.45 so we went down for breakfast.Think I'm another who could do with a Nanna nap.I don't have to cook tonight anyway,DH fancies the cheapy Sunday deal at our local Italian.I'm not sure what DS2 will be up to and DS1 can fend for himself, plenty in-I used a £5offvoucher at lid! when I was stocking up too.

Lonewhitewolf - I am so sorry to hear about Barney,I know how hard it is to lose a much loved pet,at least you know you did your best for him and did the kindest thing.(((Hugs)))

So sorry to hear about the death of your dog Lonewhitewolf, it's always difficult to lose a beloved pet.

I'm so pleased with myself, I've moved ALL the piled up newspaper into the outbuilding and it's sitting neatly on a shelf. Not sure if we can actually ever get through it all this winter and I only get one broadsheet paper a week (in tabloid size). Not that I buy it, my mum does and saves it up for me, and it's got lots of sections! Got a load of my dry goods in there too. I'm not one to hoard foodstuffs (not a prepper) but I do like to have some essentials in stock. As the kitchen is tiny I haven't got much room in there.

Going to watch Death in Paradise now and then do some reading. No snow yet.

    Hope everyone is doing well.

Lonewhitewolf (((HUGS))) sweetie. You did absolutely all you could have done, given the circumstances; even if they could have operated, at 15 Barney would not have been an ideal candidate for anaesthetic; best that he was spared that ordeal.
    Sleep well, Barney. x

LW I have recently found out that the lovely dog that greets me on my way to work every day is not a hairy corgi but a labrador/jack russell cross. Her owner says that everyone thinks that she is of royal corgi descent!
    Aww, bless; she sounds lovely.:o

Jessie's going home tomorrow morning - I don't know where the time has gone since she arrived on Thursday!

Next guest as far as I know at present is Button, a Cockerpoo, who will be here from 13th to 20th February.
Actually I feel a tad guilty; Mr LW likes to go out for a meal for celebrations, including Valentine's Day (never mind everywhere is overpriced!!) I actually don't really enjoy eating out, and really find it quite an ordeal, but always put on my best smile for his sake. With Button staying the dates she is, we can't actually go out on 14th - and I'm so relieved. Is that awful of me?
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Sorry to hear about Barney Lonewhitewolf.

Had a fairly quiet day so far. Washed up, did some ironing, 2 loads of washing and sewed up DS13's blazer which was very torn at the back, not sure what he does with it. DS16 and girlfriend have been baking with puff pastry and nutella, they have now gone to the indoor climbing centre with DH. Roast chicken and all the trimmings for dinner, so will get that sorted in a minute. Pudding already made.
