lloyds bank make me want to scream!!

sorry possibly a rant, but has any one else had any problems with faster payments online this pm from lloyds - sent a payment to tesco bank from lloyds at 7.30 and still not showing in my tesco account.

Lloyds screen confirmed sent by faster payment but not there.

So ended up calling Lloyds to check on location and it was as if i was speaking gibberish and the advisor wouldn't listen to what i was trying to explain.

I sent a payment into the account earlier on for the same amount with the intent to use it to pay a bill that was an existing payee on the lloyds account (can't find the security token for the account it was sent from.

However the advisor couldn't get head round fact that the £700 was from an account with yorkshire and i have sent forward to Tesco - she kept insisting as she can see an in and out payment for same one it bounced back and all was ok (where in reality if the payment i sent to tesco bounced back there would be an extra £700 in the account).

After a while back and forth on the phone she proceeded to tell me would need to speak to internet banking helpdesk as they could confirm where payment was, transferred through in call queue and then found out after a while from the times on their web page the department is closed!

  • Looks like your getting yourself excited over very little.

As you'll know FPs are not guarantted to arrive until the end of the next day, but most will arrive within 2 hours/immediately.

Never have any problems with Lloyds, but Tesco can regularly have a slight lag in making/showing payments. It could well be there, but you just can't see it yet, because it's not been updated.

to be honest the payment itself may be a small issue (as long as it is in process that is fine), its just extremely frustrating that instead of allowing me to explain what happened and why its not bounced back, it was like the advisor had decided in her head what had happened and refused to listen to anything else. Then on top of that putting me through to a call queue for a department that closed an hour earlier as well was the icing on the cake.

hopefully the money will show up online shortly and that will be the end of it, but its more the customer service side of the advisor - how spoke to, not allowing a customer to explain etc.

Perhaps there's maintenance going on somewhere. It is Saturday night on a non business day. Not sure what you expected customer services to do either. The money will arrive in due course.

Totally OTT. If I were the customer service advisor I would feel the same. ;)

It sounds like you were causing confusion.

As far as Lloyds could see, the payment has left them. It's more likely that Tesco have received, but not yet updated your account. Asking Lloyds where in Tesco's processing it is, isn't going to get you anywhere.

The payment will go to Tesco's clearing bank and that bank will credit Tesco who will credit your account. This might (not alway) take longer than a payment direct to an account with a clearing bank itself.

(Sorry if this doesn't make sense).

If you made the payment on Saturday to an account with another bank it will not be processed until the banking system opens on Monday morning.

Not necessarily true, many banks will update at least some details of a received FP whatever time they get it.

    Another first world problem.
  • A FP sent on a Saturday has the potential to be delayed to arrive at some point on Tuesday evening.
