    2/19 today

Made a batch of mushroom soup at the weekend - managed to get 2 huge YS cartons of mushrooms when I was shopping. 5 portions of soup for the freezer and 1 sent up to my dad. Last night I made a super tasty lentil and sweet potato soup - well worth trying if you're into soup making. Gorgeous even though I had no coriander or lime juice. I should imagine it'd be even better with the lift those ingrediants bring.

So - fridge oats with blueberries for breakfast, soup and bread (I cut a tiger loaf into chunks and freeze in individual portions so it doesn't go stale and I'm not tempted to eat it all at once :o) a carrot and an apple for snacks.

  • Hello! :j

I'd like to join this (or should I say I NEED to join this!)

Worked out I'd save around £20 a week not buying lunch & coffee in the canteen at work  so really do need to bring in food. The saving will go towards my holiday fund :T

I try to have variety as I know I'd get bored and buy something if I took in sandwiches everyday. Yesterday I had a tuna roll, today's chicken fajitas (leftovers), an apple and a homemade cherry cake. Going to make risotto tonight and make an extra potion for tomorrow, we've got a microwave at work so need to take advantage of that.

    I'm down for 18 days.

    2/18.

  • Can I join please? Not so much for me as I'm part time, but hopefully using it to give me a kick up the backside in getting DH's lunches ready the night before. Target is 18 given that I've missed a few already and he doesn't work weekends. I *should* really get mine and DD's lunches ready the night before too, but that might be pushing it!

I have pesto and usually only put in pasta I never thought of having it with potatoes, I have a jar of the kale pesto (from a girlcalledjack) website so I'm going to use that. I just sat with some friends and they both had pasta with a coffee (which I have a flask of) and it came to £5.90  so my meal is really cheap and I have filter coffee with me. I'm going to put my savings into a sealed pot and see how much I have at the end of term I'm thinking a few treat days over the 6 weeks holidays will be bought.

I've even had pesto on bread. :)

Putting your savings aside for your long holiday sounds like a fab idea. :money:

    Day 2/20 = around £10 saved already :T

Had porridge for breakfast and leftover pasta for lunch. On Tuesdays we get free fruit in the office, so had a yummy satsuma as a snack.

Still planning for tomorrow... Might do yogurt with muesli for breakfast and then a tin of soup from the cupboard with a small sandwich for lunch. And I still have some oat biscuits in my drawer for the afternoon. :)
