Parking EYE PCN - St James Retail Northampton

Hello all,
Yesterday I received my first PCN from parking eye in regards to overstaying in a '3 hour limit' free car park by approximately 30 minutes.
I am currently still in the discount payment time limit for £50 before it goes to £85.
I have read the newbies thread and reviewed the appeals which I have found to be very informative (Thank you Coupon-Mad). I will be making an appeal to hopefully have the charge cancelled or more likely rejected so I can get my POPLA number.
I am wondering if any of these factors may help. I actually went to the car park to go to Starbucks which has their own little car park which is where I was situated and it is not part of the main St. James retail car park. However I believe the ANPR system that clocked me to be right at the entrance into the retail park where you either turn left to Starbucks or right into the main car park. I held an honest belief that the Starbucks car park did not have a time limit as I was a paying customer there (by card, I’ll have to check my bank statement).
Furthermore the time I arrived it was already dark and I did not notice any signage at the entrance or at Starbucks where Parking eye claim signage to be.
I will be going to the car park tomorrow to review the situation and will provide an update of my findings.
Many thanks for reading,
R.

You are on the right track by appealing as per the template letter in the NEWBIES thread. Complaints to Starbucks management are also in order. Use all the appeal points in the template and add in another point if the Starbucks' car park isn't covered by the PPC.
You are currently still in the payment time limit for a 100% discount as long as you appeal properly and don't miss the appeal deadlines. Do not pay, do not ignore, do not reveal who was driving. Send a redacted copy of your bank statement (to prove you were a genuine customer) with the initial appeal to PE.
The current MO is to cancel charges where a forum appeal is submitted (plus you have the added bonus of proof of payment via bank statement).
Please don't be seduced by their offer of a reduced charge of £50. Take our offer of a reduced charge - just £0.00 to you, Sir!Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

OK maybe he spent half an hour in Starbucks and 3 hours elsewhere in the complex or around the town. No need to be so literal, lighten up.

As you're fairly new to this part of MSE it probably hasn't yet come to your attention that 'what happened' is somewhat irrelevant to fighting private parking charges. Mitigation has no part to play in this game.

We'll, I've used the phrase "lighten up" twice but that seems to be an alien concept so let's be serious and logical. ...except that if "what happened" is somewhat irrelevant then where do we go from here.?0
