Benben, I know a bit how you feel - the godfather of our children has had two such tumours......one was the size of a grapefruit!! No wonder he had headaches!! The two tumours were unrelated - just coincidence!

Thankfully they were both benign and no long lasting damage.

What it DID do, however, is make me realise that life is unpredictable, and despite our best efforts, we never know what is round the corner.

So, in a very positive way, we have, as his friends, benefitted from it. when we think times are tough, we remind ourselves that we have our health, and that we can help others when they need it, and our troubles sort of fade away. For goodness sake, if he can get through two brain tumours and still laugh about the scars, then we can manage to deal with numpties like Egg!

Take positives from this......it has been discovered.......it can be operated on......she has very good friends, of which you are one.....

As for DS, you did the right thing - you took away what was important to him for the day. He will soon learn. Much better that, than just say "oh, he's ok, he didn't mean anything by it...bless" and then give him a bag of sweets and buy him a new playstation on the way home......which is what some parents I know would do!

  • Hi BB

I am so sorry about your day yesterday.

I know this probably won't help now but my friend had a son who would sink his teeth into other kids and also his dads shoulder when his dad picked him up all seemigly for nothing. He would literally make himself sick if he didn't get his own way at times then he was adorable at other times. Anyway the upshot is he is 16 now and what a charming, well mannered, caring, sensitive lad they now have. They just did what you are doing, loved him, punished him, showed him right from wrong, told him about good and bad choices and consequences and he got through the 'bad' stuff .

I know that doesn't help you now but we literally talk about his biting now and he can't believe us.

As a parent the only advice I can give you is if you threaten something, see it through. Don't give in because he is 'now being good' its got to been seen through and then they see the consequences for their behaviour and also I always tell mine after the event that their bad choices 'chose' the consequences, obviously in 4 year old 'speak' so he understands.

Good luck and enjoy today with your friend.
  • Just another quickie, I was wondering do you ever invite his friends from school round to your house? I wonder if that would help, you could see him interacting and he would have to learn to cope with sharing his mum, enviroment and his toys etc. My daughter is 4 and she is very terratorial (sp) with her things and bedroom at the moment so I have been inviting her friends round once a week to help her through her 'phase'

Evening all ... had a lovely day with my friend, a few of her old uni mates arrived down last night to see her too, coming from all over the country :A We went for a walk down the beach and then her mum cooked us all a roast dinner that was gorgeous. She is quite clearly very shocked and scared but we all had a nice time all the same :o

Today I have spent £31 on petrol, I filled it right up and am hoing now that will last me for the rest of the month ;) Ironing is all done, flat is 90% tidy, ds is just eating his dinner and then its his bathtime and bedtime;) I'll be back later once he's gone to the land of nod :D I must must must find the mobile cashback info from my paperwork box later too

I found the mobile stuff and its all done and in an envelope ready to go to the post office tomorrow, so hopefully I will shortly have £20 in my bank account :D

Ds father phoned me tonight and we talked for an hour about his behaviour ;) This is unheard of for his dad, in fact this was the most we have talked since the day he walked out on us (2.5 yrs ago)  He basically said he is really worried about him too and he has offered to pay for him to see someone (child psych) to see if they can help :o:o I'm still a bit in shock that he (a) phoned me and (b) was pleasant  :D Of course his g/f wasnt around or he wouldn't have been able to ring me :rotfl: Seriously though, I really appreciated the gesture and it means a lot to me that he has offered some support at last :D

I'm off to bed in a sec, the weather is supposed to be awful here tonight so I want to try and get some sleep before it gets too bad, the rain started about 10 minutes ago and I live in a top floor flat and am the highest thing in my road and we're only half a mile from the sea, so theres not much to protect us from the wind here !! I have velux windows so when it is windy and rainy it really does hammer it down   Actually think I might make a little bed in ds room and sleep in there as its the only room with normal windows  :D Just gonna go and find a torch in case theres a power cut tonight :o

Glad you are getting support regarding DS, and that he is not being a little monster at school at the moment! Good news too on the mystery shops :T

Hope tonight is not too blustery either for you.
